Forums - Sony - IGN gives InFamous a 9.2

It looks like a Fable clone. Good or Evil, each power has 3 levels, all the spells are identical. It looks like they threw in some Assassin's Creed stuff too though, but otherwise, identical. Seriously, play the 2 games side by side and it's uncanny.

Game is really short, coming in at just under 9 hours, and that's being generous(same length as Fable II).

However, it looks like it might have surpassed Fable II in production values and fun factor.

I'd say 9.2 is close. I'd go with 9.0, AAA exclusive. Great game, this one. Ripoff of Fable, to be sure, but it actually surpasses the material it's ripping off. Fable 2 8.5.

Very odd comparison, there might be some minor similarities, but the gameplay is nothing alike. A rip off ? Not even close.

I just don't trust IGN for PS3 games. Believe it or not, I trust Edge for PS3 games most of the time...

@everyone, this is my opinion. I'm not saying IGN or PS3 games suck. I just don't trust them when it comes to PS3 games.

It seems to me Edge give good games bad scores and give bad games good scores.  I think Gamespot is the best.

The highlighted. So you like them because they give ps3 games bad scores ? well it would fit with your posting "profile"

Why would I like them because they give PS3 games bad scores? Dude what you saying.  It don't make sense.  I like Gamespot because I believe they give all games they rightful score no matter what console they are on.

Only Gamespot left I predict an 8.5 they always grade very tough.

Gamespot are very inconsistant in their rankings. They sometime give good grades to average games and average grades to great game (they gave Halo Wars 6/10)

I'm predicting either a 8.5 or a 9 from them.

I think Gamespot gave Halo Wars it's rightful score.

Wait, where'd you get the 9 hours from? For Fable II or InFamous?

9.5 Lasting Appeal
It took me about 25 hours to go through both storylines, but I've put in a total of 30 hours searching for Blast Shards and my Platinum Trophy. All that, and this still isn't old.

Assuming the same time for each storyline, that'd be about 12.5 hours for one playthrough. That's a decent length; even 9 isn't too bad.

I pre-ordered this game this week. Can't wait for it.

More important than the score, which is nice, is the fact that it actually reflects the commentary written by Greg.

Still, from the previews, demo impressions and such I already knew what to expect from this game gameplay-wise. I will definitely try it out, but I'm just not eager to get my hands on it. Open-world, free-blasting, sub-missions and that kind of stuff is not really my preferred mix in a game. The leveling/upgrading experience system and the karma system seem to really set it appart from the likes of Spiderman and GTA, which is a good thing (specially since I hate the way the GTA gameplay is schemed). Probably not my cup of tea still, but just because it might be really fun (lots of powers and upgrades), I'll give it a try.

One thing kind of gets me down, though. There's been no mention, and the IGN review is no exception, of pivotal boss fights. I don't know if they're so neccessary for this game, and I don't mean a "boss fight" in the traditional way, but I would have liked to fight some kind of powerful adversary. Maybe there are, but the review fails to mention this. There are different gangs of bad guys, they're certainly run by some leader, I guess I'll have to play the game to know, or wait for someone with the game to tell me.

Oh, one more thing I haven't read or heard anywhere is about your choice of powers. It seems is kind of irrelevant to the development of the game which karma side you choose. However, I'd really like to know if there's anything more going for the different powers than just making the game more convenient, easy and/or fun to you. Like for example, being able to complete some kind of missions only if you have certain power, which you can only adquire if you go bad karma. That kind of thing. I really like to have my abilities to play some kind of role in games, not just have a stock of cool stuff to do just because it's there and I can, even if I could just very well play through the whole game defeating everybody with the standard set of blasts.

Well i dunno about missions requiring a power. But he did say 15 missions that are only for good and 15 that are only or bad.

Also the better you are the more precise and accurate your powers become and the more evil you are, the more out of control/destructive they become.

Players can flip between good and evil in the game to access various upgrades and powers.

I posted it awhile ago but nobody seems to paid attention to it. LOL!
