Forums - Gaming Discussion - DS, DSi or PSP? Which is a better buy for me

I am thinking which one I should buy.

I will have enough money soon

I already have a PSP but its UMD disc drive doesn't work

Is it worth it to keep the PSP only for downloadable games??

& buy a new DS for the pokemon gold remake??

DS or DSi?

is DSi worth the extra price?

So far the DSiWare has been sub par, but if you get it before I think it was October or something you get 10 dollars of Nintendo DSi points when you access the shop channel.

Depents, but if you're primairly interested in playing games with your handheld, I'd reccomend one of the two DS's.
Take the DSi if you have a choice, as it's going to have some interesting games in the future that won't be on the regualr DS.

thanks

Is the DSi region free?

Also does the DS have any platformers

DSi exclusive stuff isn't region free

DS stuff (which works on said DSi too) is region free

The DS has plenty of platformers

The DSi is not region free (for downloadable games but the DS games are region free) and yes there are a lot of platformers for the DS. Super Mario 64, New Super Mario Bros, Kirby games, Princess Peach, Castlevania games etc. all good.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

if the rumor is true about psp 2 i would prolly wait for that one after E3 :P

@DaveD

so if pokemon gold come in america in january & I had a DSi

I won't be able to buy it straight off (import it)

if so I may stick with the regular DS.

All DS games of any region work on any DS, even the DSi

The exclusive DSi things are region only I think

The exclusive stuff like the updates, DSi Shop, etc.

It is region locked for iDS games. The iDS is region free for all original DS only games. Future DS games could be region locked on the iDS only, but I'm not sure. Obviously both the software and hardware have to support the region locking, hence why the old games are still region free on the iDS.

edit: obviously I posted really late.

As for the pokemon question, the answer is we don't know. They could region lock DS games and the DSi would not be able to play those imports. The DS which has no region locking wouldn't know any better and would play it fine.

But, I highly doubt it since it doesn't make much sense.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
