These are reasons why I don't think MGS4 should be coming to the 360.

- MGS4 (ps3) made fun of DVD9's

- MS Marketing/Financing could of been spent on aquiring a new IP (I'm assuming MS will throw some money at Konami)

- Konami will just use the profits to fund their next PS3 exclusive

- It will do poorly sales wise compared to the PS3 (Obvious I know...), which will then be used as ammo by PS3 fanboys

- You don't use your "good" developers on a port, , Konami will use their best developers on new games, and their "B" team or "C" team to create the port. Therefore, the game is more likely to be buggy and have performance issues.

- If I wanted to play MGS4, I would of purchased a PS3.

- Year old ports are for the PS3

If anyone else can think of anything.. please add it on. I know I'm not the only fanboy who isn't looking forward to this announcement at E3.

Wow there are actually intelligent people on vg CHARTZ!
TOTALLY AGREE

especially last point

Year old Ports = PS3......us 360 people aren't used to year old ports & don't care for them

MGS4 & its 100 min cutscenes can go to hell for all I care

why will they use the profits from mgs4+ (which i don't think will hppen anyway) to fund their next ps3 exclusive? Why not PES or a wii game? Plus how can you say "us" 360 gamers dont care for year old ports, are you the entire 360 demographic or something? Plus the longest cutscene in mgs4 was definitely not 100 minutes, thats just a stupid exaggeration.

If it comes out, I'll buy it. I don't even lie to myself about it anymore. I've bought every non-portable Metal Gear AT LEAST twice (Except MG2 for the MSX. I only got that once with MGS3: Subsistence).

I'm weak.

You should buy games based on what you want to play.

Not buying a game because of some perceived slight by a developer seems rather silly. But, it is your choice, and if it make you feel better about yourself, go for it.

I'm not pushing my views on others and calling for a boycott, I'm just stating my views and seing if any others agree with me.

And you actually want more gamers like me. People complained that EA was just regurgitating the same crap over and over again, but when they actually release a new game like Mirror's Edge everyone ignored it and EA got snubbed. Well see if they try to create a new ip...

You need people like me who ask themselves.. If I buy this product will I be endorsing something good (like a new IP, originality, out of the box thinking), or am I just giving some corporate board member $60 to buy the same game I played last year on different maps...

does this mean it's not too early for me to boycott mass effect 1/2 on my ps3?

Mass Effect is never coming on the PS3. There is an actual rumor going around the interwebs that MGS4 is being ported and will be announced at E309.

Actually, I think Mass Effect coming out on the PS3 is far more likely than MGS4 comign out on the Xbox 360. Why? Because EA publishes that game, and they like multiplatform releases quite a lot. It also wouldn't require as much effort to cheaply port an Xbox 360 game to the PS3 than the other way around, where storage issues and the likes would become a problem.

I don't really know too much about the technical aspects of games though, so don't nuke me when what I'm saying isn't true.

Actually, no. Konami has a higher chance of bringing any of their games over to the 360, because they were getting on Kojimas ass to bring MGS4 over to the 360. They saw what happened with GTA4 and wanted the same kind of profit. Mass Effect on the other hand was created for the Xbox 360 and PC. The only game Bioware admitted was for both PS3 and 360 was Dragon Age. When confronted about PS3, they either said "no, we have no plans for it being on the PS3" or "no comment".

Ah, I left Microsofts cash out of the equation. But then again: do they still care? Is Microsoft still willing to pay so much money for a year-old PS3 exclusive?

Microsoft wasn't going to pay crap. Konami wanted the profit from the because of the 360's installed base potential, much like SE. Microsoft actually publishes the 360 version of Mass Effect, while EA publishes the PC version.

Crap, misread your post! Sorry :). I still don't think Konami is going to port MGS4 over, simply because the installed base of the 360 that they wanted to take advantage of isn't going to buy this game that much anymore, unless it's really hyped up, which I doubt, because I haven't seen many year-old ports getting the hype treatment.

the xbox 360 is for playing games and not watching movies

unless you have the netflix service man i hear it is pretty good

Almost every point you make is either childish or just speculation.

You don't know whether MS pays for the MGS4. Perhaps Konami just wants more profits.

You don't know whether it is a second-rate port. Konami has made good ports before.

You don't know whether profits are used to make PS3 exclusive game. Perhaps profits are actually used to make a 360 exclusive. Or Wii exclusive. Or multiplatform games. PS3 exclusive is actually unlikely target for profits.

First point was about MGS4 making fun of DVD (not 360, just DVD). It was just a joke and nothing more. There have been many jokes about Sony and MS and Nintendo in games before and very few have been offended by them. It would be childish reason to boycott a good game just because of joke.

Boycotting game because it is a year-old port isn't very good reason either. Being a little older doesn't make the game any worse. I buy 2-3 year-old and even older games regularly. I care more about quality than age.

You also said that it bound to sell less thus giving more ammo to PS3 fanboys. So by not buying the game you give PS3 fanboys more ammo. Doesn't make sense to me, unless you are actually PS3 fanboy.

i will MGS4 = ( best game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 > Halo 3>GoW2

ps: but..

OP - MGS4 is the best game ever and its too bad you'll be missing it over some stupid dispute or disagreement between a couple of multi-billion dollar entities. Who cares about the exclusivity and if it poked fun at DVD/MS? Play the game for what it is and enjoy. The way I see it, more games, especially ones that are universally acclaimed, are always welcome on my console. Look at PS3 fanboys. They are not complaining about getting Lost Planet, Bioshock and Eternal Sonata. Even today many of them are anticipating TOV, Dead Rising 2 and the next Bioshock. MGS4 won game of the year last year from 10 places, and at least 30 other awards from various sources. Bringing it to 360, especially with extras, would make it a first day buy for me and I already own the game.

I also expect MGS4 360 to become a million seller very fast, unlike year old ports for PS3. Times have changed, its not Q1 2007 anymore. PS3 has some of the best games, allowing people on 360 to play them will atleast make MGS available to 50% of the market right now.

I hope you change your mind cuz I think you'd love the game.
