does this mean it's not too early for me to boycott mass effect 1/2 on my ps3?

Mass Effect is never coming on the PS3. There is an actual rumor going around the interwebs that MGS4 is being ported and will be announced at E309.

Actually, I think Mass Effect coming out on the PS3 is far more likely than MGS4 comign out on the Xbox 360. Why? Because EA publishes that game, and they like multiplatform releases quite a lot. It also wouldn't require as much effort to cheaply port an Xbox 360 game to the PS3 than the other way around, where storage issues and the likes would become a problem.

I don't really know too much about the technical aspects of games though, so don't nuke me when what I'm saying isn't true.

Actually, no. Konami has a higher chance of bringing any of their games over to the 360, because they were getting on Kojimas ass to bring MGS4 over to the 360. They saw what happened with GTA4 and wanted the same kind of profit. Mass Effect on the other hand was created for the Xbox 360 and PC. The only game Bioware admitted was for both PS3 and 360 was Dragon Age. When confronted about PS3, they either said "no, we have no plans for it being on the PS3" or "no comment".

Ah, I left Microsofts cash out of the equation. But then again: do they still care? Is Microsoft still willing to pay so much money for a year-old PS3 exclusive?

Microsoft wasn't going to pay crap. Konami wanted the profit from the because of the 360's installed base potential, much like SE. Microsoft actually publishes the 360 version of Mass Effect, while EA publishes the PC version.

Crap, misread your post! Sorry :). I still don't think Konami is going to port MGS4 over, simply because the installed base of the 360 that they wanted to take advantage of isn't going to buy this game that much anymore, unless it's really hyped up, which I doubt, because I haven't seen many year-old ports getting the hype treatment.
