Forums - Sony - The PS3 won't make it past 2012 in America at retail.

I was wondering about that, thanks for explaining it :)

No problem.  In fact the only reason my sig is still allowed is because MikeB has not yet complained about it.  If he does then I won't be able to offer even this limited explanation for his actions.

I think you misread, the dead weight is the PS3, not SCE itself, I think internally, they've already realized that it's a failure, and so far they have no real way to recover but they have to at least try to keep their share holders by doing lousy PRs and make first party exclusives that don't sell nearly as well as a lot of the 3rd party software or Nintendo first party software. PS3 is not a technical marvel, it's a shortsight, Sony fucked up on this one and they are suffering hard, it doesn't even matter if BR is doing well or not tbh, the company as a whole is loosing a ton of money where even when Nintendo was loosing on numbers, they made real profit each year.

Luckily, they are not Sega, they have other assets to fall back on before they dry up so they really need to figure something out fast.

Actually interally they have yet to utilize it as much as they could.  Sony pictures and music should have been selling their stuff on PSN since day one.

And their games dont sale as well as 3rd partys, are you dense or something.  9 of the 30 +1 million sellers are Sonys.

they've already posted a 1.5 billion USD loss from the previous year, so they are loosing money, so no I'm not dense, because there is data. also, almost every first party game they've made are barely making their money back despite selling 1m+ because they simply spent too much on them. their management is horrible and their PR is crap. no matter how you want to defend them and go but this but that, they are suffering, not to a bankrupt state obviously but it's not pretty at all.

X-Box 360 is dominating America, but most of those sales come from "fly over" states and rural farm towns. Here in NYC for example, games like the MLB the Show have PS3 winning the HD console war easy. We all know that if Sony holds down key areas like major citys and Japan who are trend setters, then PS3 will be the more wanted item, while the 360's "walmart darling" bargain bin image could devastate the 360's chances for long term viability.

Oh really?  Here in Indianapolis and every major city I've seen, the Xbox 360 is still dominating in almost every single game.

Sure major cities have a chance of buying the more expensive stuff because that is a bigger part of their lifestyle and their wages are generally higher than other parts of the US.  That doesn't change the fact that apparently the 360 still has majority favor.

And it's funny that you mention the Xbox as being "'walmart darling' bargain bin image" and state that this could devastate it, when the whole concept of Wal-Mart is to sell things at the lowest price.  Oh and you know how there are 200 million Wal-Mart shoppers?  Yeah, not exactly a bad thing for the 360 to be favored by Wal-Mart.

But rural towns don't set the trends, anything big you see in a big city, the rest of the country follows.

you do realize that the actual trend is the Wii, not the PS3 in NYC though, right? I assume you'd know that since you live in NYC. no HD console sets the trend in NYC.

Megadude get out of here already with your constant trolling.  Rarely do I ever call someone out like this for being a troll because I give people the benefit of the doubt but your posting is nothing but biased garbage most of the time.  And if there is one thing I hate its people that stereotype and generalize people.  I live in a "flyover" state and you know what were not stupid farm boys who know nothing about gaming like you make it out to be.  I love the PS3 but its fanboys like this that absolutley RUIN its reputation.

This thread is trolling. You have a plhethora of some of the most hardcore Xbot trolls on VGchartz on your friends list, a ton of 360 games and ONE PS3 game. There is no doubt which system you're rooting for, you calling me a trool is like a klansman calling me a rasist. I ain't buying it. I never said anything about "stupid" or farmboys but I did say 360 has some major support from rural America. But the United States is a BIG country (nearly 4 million square miles) and to say the 360 is crushing PS3 everywhere is a crazed generalization.

Lol if I could tell you about the Wii fanboys I've met in the Village... Let's put it like this: they were fierce.

well it's the trend /shrug. I personally just want to play good games and I don't care what they are on. I just think Sony needs to figure something out with the PS3.

But you're trying to say that all the big cities, where the bulk of the population is in the US (and pretty much every other country in the world), prefers the PS3 yet there's nothing that shows this to be the case, at least nothing that you've brought forward to make your "facts" anymore reasonable than anyone elses "facts".

Hes a troll who has been banned before twice. Just report him and move on.

2012 is the End of the Mayan calender.

One Ps3 game? Are you blind as well? Thats 11 PS3 games I own as well 10 PSP gamse. Megadude you've already been banned and I have over 800 posts without so much as a warning. I grow very very tired of your posting style and you are certainly in my top 3 worst trolls on the site.

I litteraly have NEVER called someone out like this but your getting rediculous.
Oh and ironically look at my post history. Just yesterday I got called a PS3 fanboy. Get over it man its people like you that hold back legitimate good conversation and fill the forums with trash.

Also to any mods I'm sorry if this is over the top and I don't ever do this but this kid is rediculous.
