Show your Berserk love

Around the Network

I never watched any Anime except Berserk (not really into them) but the show is addicting I was kinda sad when I was near the final episodes. It's really great Very beautiful and engaging story, well developed and deep characters and Awesome action scenes what more could you ask

BTW could you recommend me a Anime like the theme or the feel of Berserk ?? I keep hearing good stuff about Death Note but never got around to it but since the summer course is not demanding as the winter one I have more free time now

death note...kinda...bored me a little bit to be honest. The manga is much better.
Plus, of course, you should start reading the manga (berserk)
you can read it for free on this website:
http://manga.animea.net/

The berserk anime ends at about halfway through the manga and skips a bunch of great content.

as far as anime is concerned;

Fist of the North star - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fist_of_the_North_Star
~100 episodes and a (i think) a couple movies, but maybe just one. The main character is very similar to Guts in that he's a lone wanderer and violent and unstoppable.

Ninja Scroll - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_scroll
Another lone wanderer kind of movie, this time set in feudal Japan. The main character is superbly skilled in swordplay and fights 7 or so demons each with unique abilities. He is joined by a female ninja and a mystic. very bloody and serious.

there's also this robot anime that is partially done with CG that I cannot remember the name of at the moment, but I will post it when I get home and look on my pc.

no berserk fans here? wtf...

I started to read Berserk, but I stopped after four volumes. It just didn't seem worth the effort.

I watched some of the anime, but was never really hooked either.

And of course, I re-read the manga again, without getting hooked, just because everybody continued to tell me how awesome it was. But it still wasn't.

It wasn't until the fourth time I started reading it that I really got hooked. And then it jumped up high on my list of best manga.

In doing what it does, Berserk is awesome. If you're looking for brutal action and senseless violence, this is the manga I would point you to. It excels in it. It does have some pretty boring drawing in the beginning, but it really gets better the further into the series you get. And if you ever get to the end of the VERY long flashback, you'll be stuck in it. Impossible to get out of. You'll just want more of the badass action and mindless swordfighting :)

I only watched the anime, and it was really good, but that last episode really pissed me off, how could they end it there!

(I know it was cancelled)

@Gilgamesh - I hope you know that the manga continues much further. And if you do... why haven't you read it?

Haha that's a great story. I'm surprised you didn't get hooked the first three times. I wonder if you stopped reading the first couple times because of the breaks in it ie: flashbacks.

Admittedly, you never really get the motive to the fighting in the first two or three books until you finish the flashbacks. But what a wonderful ride it is. Once you have the back story, the first two books are great because you understand why he is so brutal and you even get to see him kill a monster that appeared numerous times in the flashback. (the second one he kills. the fat slug one)

What you need to think about throughout the story is that Guts is the most badass guy in the world.

born from a corpse, breathing blood and afterbirth for the first few hours of life. Raised mother dies of the plague. Kills his own father. This is truely a cursed man. It's a great story, not just the mindless violence and nudity. Great mood and feel.

I'm here....Grifis was the first kinda Gay character I still liked after finding out he let that duke bone him for money.....LOL...also..I read A lot of the Manga....I have no idea why they did not keep making the series into OVA's.....

Plus the fact that Femto's Head was shaped like his helmet..was awesome...(Maybe cuz he could not take it of after all the torture)

The Dreamcast Game was dead on as far as the story line goes....I don't know about the PS2 game that came latter....I never found it....
