Forums - General - So, how was star trek? IT WAS SWEET.

Seeing the Enterprise kick some ass would have been nice. Other than that, I really enjoyed the movie. I like how, instead of rebooting the franchise, they created a (suspension of disbelief) plausible story that explains why things are different and why we're back with the original crew of the Enterprise. The casting was great and for half the movie, I kept asking myself "Where the *&$^ is Scotty?... When he did appear, the payoff was grand (Simon Pegg ROFL). Overall, a close to perfect action movie by Abrams. It's fun, it's entertaining, and the dialogue doesn't make you want to jab icepicks into your ears. Some of the fan service in the movie was classic: Nero pulling a Kirk but instead of "Khan!" he's yelling "Spock!", McCoy using his "damn it!" line, and Scotty's "I'm givin' her all she's got!" lines... Hilarious.

Like many, I only know a bit about Star Trek, used to watch a bunch of eps since my bro was into it. Wasn't exactly hyped before the film, but...

The movie managed to be completely awesome. I think it helped not seeing any trailers & generally knowing little about the film, I like the pleasant surprises (Simon Pegg poppin up was ownage).

Highly recommended to anyone considering it. Now to convince some of my friends, whom stay away purely due to the nerdish image Star Trek carries... troublesome.

I will watch it this weekend.

Yeah, seeing some more space combat would have been great. I would have loved to see the Federation armada in action

I've never seen any of the movies/TV series and I hate Star Wars... will I like this movie? :3

Well, you don't have to know anything about Star Trek to really get into it. If you already like spaceships, know a bit about stars and their behavior, etc. you'll understand everything. It's still a "wii-ified" version of Star Trek after all!

You'll miss some of the inside jokes though. =P

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

It's nothing like Star Wars.

It was GREAT, you really couldn't ask for more. Lots of humor, action and even a good story line.
Best StarTrek film since First Contact.

I think JJ Abrams "wii-ified" the Star Trek Franchise, basically.

Had it continued on the way it was before, the current "hardcore" star trek base would have shrunk, and there were hardly any new "casual" star trek fans jumping on board.

I dare you to find a person who became a Star Trek fan from watching Enterprise, or even Voyager. Most likely, the people who watched Enterprise/Voyager/DS9 are the same people who watched TNG.

So the new Star Trek catered more to "casuals" but also managed to pay homage to the original continuity.

Voyager was actually really good,  the EMH Doctor is one of the best characters in the startrek universe and some of the story lines were very interesting.

My Father, mother and sister became fans of StarTrek though Voyager. I also know quite a few other people who loved Voyager before watching TNG.

Enterprise on the other hand pretty much killed Startrek, which is why the film is so important.

Lets hope they make a series that continues where Voyager left off.
