I wouldn't mind if this wasn't the first time I had seen something like this. If I could just post any insulting thing I want and put a
face after it, I could go around being mean to people and never having to worry about the consequences. It's one of my bigger pet peeves. Thanks for saying that I have my panties in a wad though, all these nice words coming out of your mouth make me feel great inside.

It's worse then it was a couple months ago. The rate of change is less, but it's still worse. |
It marks a transition, we are done with the freefalling. Now it's landing time.

Thanks for explaining things to me like I'm a child while ignoring sarcasm. I'm probably being a jerk right now, but that wasn't appreciated.

Well if you had put a smily, I would have realized it's sarcasm ;)

Really? A half a million more people lost jobs last month then gained them, and the free fall is over?

Yeah, it might be half a million but it's the best monthly improvement since october. If may sees similar results, it'll mean the trend is changing.
Of course we don't know how long it'll take to land, nor how long it'll be until it takes off again. But at least the first step is over.

The worst month was 740,000. Last month was 540,000.... seems like the same level of bad to me.

That's roughly what we're looking at. I suck at analogies (I've been told this many times), but I thought I'd have fun with that one.
I would guess its around 8.5 here in Minnesota for April.
Which isn't that great...

@montana
Your analogy isn't valid, because the recession will end. As all recessions, this one has phases. You can mock it but if may jobless claims follow april's trend, it'll mean we are moving onto the next step. We won't have a definite confirmation until July tho, once this quarter's GDP get published.
