Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft buys game developer BigPark to beef up Xbox 360 offering

Congrats to Microsoft for building up their games production arm, but it doesn't look like we're going to see any big hardcore games from this studio.

Good move, but MS is moving to slow. By time they target the studios they want to purchase (and I'm sure there are a few, considering the lack of 1st party studios they have) and purchase them, we won't truly see the benefits of the studios being first party for quite some time. That's not to say they won't make any games for quite some time, just that they won't benefit from being first party for a while..so MS needs to hurry up and stop lollygaggin and get who they want.

Studios gained:
Big Park

Studios lost:
Bioware
FASA
Ensemble

Sounds like a great deal they made :)

I would probably be a hardcore MS & 360 fanboy if they had not closed down FASA Studios and was still pumping out MechWarrior and Mech Commander games every other year.  It was such a shame to see them go. :(

MS should've brought BioWare - I bet they hit themselves over the head when EA acquired them.

This is all companies like Microsoft and Sony need to do. Buying devs are all they can do because they don't make games. As I've always said, variety will make them stronger.
