Forums - Gaming - PS3 vs. 360 - Which one is best for me?

It sounds like a Canadian/American PS3 is the best choice for you.

OK thanks everyone for the replies. It seems that the PS3 is the console for me. A few things I learned reading about the replies:

1. Some other choices for OS X software to get my MacBook to talk to the PS3 (thanks!)

2. Something I didn't consider (that thankfully people in this thread pointed out to me) is that many PS3 games are multi-lingual. So it means that it's possible that I don't need to import every single game I buy. Some of the games here in Taiwan will work in English.

A few things I'd like to clear up:

1. A USA/Canada PS3 is not so good for me, because then if I want to watch Blu-Ray discs, I need to buy Region 1. All the Blu-Ray discs here are either Region 3 (for Taiwan) or Region 2 (imports from Japan). I'm not sure if the PS3s sold here are actual Taiwanese releases or Japanese imports (seems like most video games sold here are imports from Japan) but either way, a Region 1 PS3 is not as good to me as a PS3 purchased locally in Taiwan.

2. Taiwan has the same electric outlets as Japan, which are pretty close to North America.. but in any case it doesn't matter.. I live in Taiwan and I'm purchasing a Taiwanese PS3, so of course the AC will match.

Anyway, thanks for the replies, you've made me feel confident about my purchase. Now it's 12:43PM in Taipei, and I'll be purchasing a PS3 tonight! Now I just have to decide on the color... I think silver is best!

let us know your psn name when you get it
I must say I'm impressed that this didn't become a console war and I"m really surprised squilliam said ps3

Hmmmmm. From what I'm noticing here, you're more interesting in multimedia capabilities than the focal points of a console. You're better off sticking to PC, but you probably already bought the PS3. Most of the games you listed can easily be played with an emulator, with the exception of the wrestling game. You didn't really pick any real console defining games as examples.

Just because he picked the "PS3" you had to say something, didn't you?

@Sephiroth: The PS3 is a great system, but what this guy really wants is a PC. The majority of the games he has listed could easily be played on emulator.

 Fair enough...

Whichever ur region has more support for

Well. The 360 right out of the box will stream your PC Avi and play them through the media center. Simple. Or it will play them straight off the DVDRW. In fact I stream HD downloaded content through media center to my 360 and watch in HD from my PC. :)

I dont think you need anything else to make your choice....
