Forums - Nintendo - 1UP- Boogie Bombed, NPD says 68,000 sold in all of August

I don't think Wii owners should be happy this bombed. If anything it will cause EA to be more cautious about releasing games on the Wii, which could be good or bad. It could be good if they have more quality assurance testing. It could be bad if they decide the Wii market is too volatile and don't ramp up their Wii game production.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. 68k is a lot more than I thought it would sell so I'm not as forgiving of Wii owners as are others. I think EA is correct that this is a casual title that will sell for a long time and will do especially well during Christmas (relative to say September that is). Add in Europe and I wouldn't be surprised if Boogie hits 300-400k WW. That should be more than enough to make a profit and encourage EA to make more crap games like this.

I hope My Sims and EA Playground flop badly too (though Sims will sell because of its popularity of previous games).

npd also had warhawk and lair at around 60k, vgcharts was a bit off on that one.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

In all fairness, Boogie isn't that bad. It's not good, but it's fine for a couple of hours. Now, Carnival Games...

Anyone want to take a guess on how hard the PS2 version will bomb?

 I say 100-200k maximum.

Boogie is doing OK in Europe. I predict 500k WW in 2007.

I bet if the game had a fat plumber it would be over 500k now.

In before someone uses this as another "3rd parties can't succeed on the Wii" excuse.

EA's games haven't sold well on the Wii thus far because they're either half-assed ports or just plain half-assed. Boogie is a prime example of this phenomenon.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
