I agree the ps3 library is completely superior
I myself own a Wii but prefer my ps3
Playing games and tracking sales, they're like two different hobbies. I love both.
The console war is important. I don't know why, but I feel it matters which console is more successful. And this gen is very exciting, because it's so tuff between the X360 and PS3 for 2nd place.
Finding out which games sell well and trying to figure out if your favorite game made any profit, comparing numbers and all those things we do here on VGC, it's just very fun and interesting.
My guess is because fanboys couldn't bring talks of "Sales" last gen because of the anal rape Sony was giving the competition. Now because things are so much closer every little edge counts in the world of fanboyism.
