Every console is core+ Casual.

mario party, mario strikers and animal crossing are hardcore?

since when?

Since before the Wii generation. Once nintendo became popular fans of microsoft/sony had to marginalize nintendo by calling them kiddy and casual.

I love all of the above-mentioned titles, but they are kiddy and casual.

Here are some definitions that might help

Platformers - casual
Non-sim sports and racing - casual
button mashers (e.g. SSB) - casual
Music games - casual
mini-game collections - casual

RPGs, most FPS, some action, simulations, strategy games, some adventure - non-casual

Using that metric only metroid might be non-casual.

Of course, as has been stated previous, if you look at 3rd parties, the situation looks bleak for the Wii.

Ultimately, this post has achieved nothing but to piss off fans of those genres.

@theprof - Frankly, I think you've proven yourself wrong, so I see it as a null point to continue debating. Feel free to try, but I've said my part and I find from here on out, it's only bitterness and subjectivity standing between you and me agreeing.

so is street figher 4 casual? Since its a button basher

hardcore
1. unswervingly committed; uncompromising; dedicated: a hard-core segregationist.
3. being so without apparent change or remedy; chronic: hard-core inflation; hard-core unemployment.

casual
1. happening by chance; fortuitous: a casual meeting.
2. without definite or serious intention; careless or offhand; passing: a casual remark.
3. seeming or tending to be indifferent to what is happening; apathetic; unconcerned: a casual, nonchalant air.

Here is the definition of both casual and hardcore.
Since so many people on this site use it so often.

You tell me what would you rather be?
