This one is great and those touchy about race might not like this.
As a Minority Gamer myself, I can identify greatly with this though.
Pixel Art can be fun.

You're part of a minority? What minority, if you don't mind me asking? I don't know if that's offensive to ask or anything, so sorry if it is.

Yeah, I just realized... I'm gonna check that video out now :P

"... and THE BLACK GUY!" LOL XD
He does have a point. Ethnic characters need to stop being "that ethnic guy" and start being actual characters, even in video games. Not saying they should force them in, but you know...

"AND THE BLACK GUY" made lol as well.
It's a very strong point. Not to repeat what he said.. though I doubt most people are going to watch this video.. Video Gaming needs to be more diverse in that we can't have minorities constantly portrayed as either stereotypes (See Barret and Gus Cole), Enemies (Resident Evil 5, Uncharted) or Sidekicks (See Barret and Gus Cole again). The ugly truth is that gaming now and what gaming will be is driven by the customer majorities, AKA, young white males.

Pretty worthless and overly sensitive video. The natural order of things in video games is to reduce ANY character, no matter their race or gender, to a stereotype. Look at the Grand Theft Auto series, that's a perfect example. All the black characters are gangsters, all the Latin characters are paunchy coke dealers with smoking hot but bitchy girlfriends, all the white characters are corrupt police officers or white collar criminals. Nico in GTAIV was a white Eastern European who was a slave trader and a war criminal.
It has nothing to do with racial motivation, it has to do with turning realistic characters of any color into a caricature. Obviously, doing that is going to involve portraying some stereotypes about different races, but I'm tired of people pretending that stereotypes are some awful creation of twisted racist minds.
Do you know why African guys throwing spears is a stereotype? Because for well over 1000 years outside cultures went to Africa and saw black guys throwing spears. People in Mexico ACTUALLY WORE sombreros, it's not like some white guy was sitting around thinking, "Hmmm, how could I make Mexicans look stupid? I KNOW! I will create some big ridiculous hat and make him wear it!" Racial stereotypes grow out of actual FACTS, not some deranged racist imagination.
Now, if someone made a game where you play as a Jew and run around stealing people's money and spreading the black plague to Christians, this video might have a valid complaint. Or if a game existed where the protagonist is an out of control black guy who lives only to rape white women. THAT is racist, applying negative character traits to a particular ethnicity as a whole.
Shooting black people in Africa is not racist, sorry. Luke Cage is not racist because he doesn't have a costume. If anything, it's MORE racist to give every white guy a costume, because that indicates that the authors don't find white people interesting enough to stand on their own two feet as characters.
I'm so tired of people's overly sensitive bullshit and apologia. If this guy has a gripe, it's not with racism, it's with bad writing. The issue here is not that black people are portrayed in a certain way, or any other ethnicity for that matter. The issue is that video game writers have never even attempted to create a realistic, fleshed out protagonist in any game. I guess Tomb Raider is biased against British people, because Lara Croft, a member of the English aristocracy, spends her time digging around in tombs like so many other British aristocrats have spent their time doing.
The problem isn't racism, it's bad writing, but the guy who made this video doesn't seem to mind any of the thousands of instances of bad writing that portray white characters as stupid stereotypes, because he's too busy bending over backwards to prove what a progressive thinker he is.
