Forums - Sales - Lame Sales/Console War argument im tired of hearing...(Day 1)

"Such and Such game only sold better on PS3 because of Japan, so im my opinion it doesnt countszor!"

I keep hearing this Rediculous Argument...Is it True?  In a sense yes it helps...But the fact that the Games always sell more in the USA on the PS3 in the first place...pretty much make this point Null.

*Smack Forehead*

Why does that point matter at all? really? i mean c'mon!  The same thing can be Said about 360 software sales in the USA...on a much larger Scale.

For having 8 MILLION+ more consoles worldwide and a year head start...It amazes me the PS3 is Keeping Pace and Surpassing 360 sales lately.

Therefore, the Japan Argument and my Grammar...Are hereby MMOF... Massively Multiplayer Online Fail.

...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.

"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"

Well, that's certainly one case...but the OP said always, when reality says that most games sell more on 360 in the US

I was more showing SRPG that it's not "never" that's all I don't agree with the op

Why can't we all be friends?

I agree with the main idea of the original post.

I hate seeing "PS3 is in last" and "PS3 software sucks", people do like to ignore that the 360 launched a year earlier, is and has been much cheaper, and has a larger install base.

If anything people should be amazed how well that PS3 has/is doing. Considering it has cost twice as much as the 360 pretty much the entire generation, and Sony let so many exclusives go, it's done amazingly well.

True, but we do not need a new guy telling us this information for the umpteemth time we have been fed for two years now. We know it. VGchartz is a sales site with analysts everywhere... any user here knows this argument by now. The search function perhaps should be made bigger...

I wonder if anyone else is familiar with the concept of canceling out. The added functionality in the PS3 cancels out the early launch for the 360. Sony decided to start late so they could use their console as a market penetration tool for both format and CPU technologies. Microsoft launched sooner to gain market dominance. This mindset that Sony is getting mugged is fabricated bullshit.

For anyone talking this point they should also make the following statements. Had the 360 launched later it would have had a better reliability, and had the PS3 launched sooner it would have had half the functionality. All things are equal to obtain one thing you must sacrifice another. Whether the sacrifice was worth it is another matter entirely.

Speaking to why where something sells matter. Yes where something sells matters a great deal, because different markets are worth more. Japan is a market that is becoming increasingly marginalized, and long term prospects for console success are to be found in North America and Europe. Success in Japan is becoming less a plum, and more a prune. Success in North America or Europe are worth far more then success in Japan. They will pay out more in the long run.

Many Japanese developers have been very bullish on this point. They view being too successful in Japan as compared to being less successful in North America as a loss.
