Firstly, i didnt make fun of US soccer i made fun of US football. (World definition see football.)

If we're going to get pissy over a stupid word, more people in more English-speaking nations refer to it as "soccer".

Since we're on an English-speaking board, the "real" word is "soccer".

So there. Can we get over it already? We all know what everyone is talking about here. Semantics don't matter one damned bit.

I live and die by the English dictionary.  I was only joking anyway.  BUT i believe ioi the creator of this site is from   UNITED KINGDOM so....   :D

LOL thats why none of them make any sense when im talking to them on cod4

I love watching my national team ENGLAND.

I have absolutely no interest in club football because the clubs names now are meaningless and a lot of premiership teams consist of 80%+ foreign players.

If you're going to have a team called 'MANCHESTER' UNTED or any place named team have the best from the area the team is in and not ones bought by the highest bidder from around the world.

its true, for example, in english the letter "u" is much more common than it is in american, which is why we have Colour and they have Color

Well, I'm Brazilian and as a football fan and also American fan I must say there's space for both in the world. Each has it's strenght and weakness, but are they both are pretty cool once you understand the game.

I still think that american football is better played than watched, since good plays are actually rare in it's 3hrs length(yes, unlike someone said before, a match can take 3hrs with all the interruptions that are actually part of rules of the game.), but at the same time is wonderful to see a well done play.

While football is just awesome. If you take the time to watch some PELE videos or even Ronaldo's(the real one and not Cristiano) at their best moments, you have to fall in love and the beauty is that I watch similar plays while playing with friends in a rented field, while is quite difficult to watch a 100 Yds pass in a amateur match, you have to watch a American College game or a NFL one for that).

But there's no superior sport, just a more liked one given cultural reasons.

No, we both speak English. We just happen to speak different dialects of the language.

So, do Canadians speak "Canadian" in your world and do Aussies speak "Australian"? Why stop there? Let's just keep creating languages. I hate the way American southerners speak. I barely understand half the crap they say. Let's call their language "American WTF Did They Just Say". What about Cockney? That shit makes no sense. We need a good language name for them, too.

As a German I don't want to mix up with your dialect debates but Football stays Football, because the FIFA means

Federation Internationale de FOOTBALL Association. So this sport is called FOOTBALL. If you call it soccer you're just wrong.

You wouldn't accept it, if the rest of the world would call American Football simply Eggball, so won't football-fans around the world accept Football to be called soccer.
