I'm afraid i can't fin any proof of existance of amazing Wii power of selling jRPG titles :)
Also Wii Tales is 420k behind LO , 30k below VC, on par with SO4 (both didn' have EU release) and 20k above Japan only sales of WKC apart from SO all of those were new IPs.

LOL... you're comparing a Tales spin-of with any effort with LO and SO4?
Well... that tells me a lot about the "existance of amazing Wii power of selling jRPG titles :)"

So the opinion would be.... Wii can't sell hardcore games because when they're on the Wii they sell so well they become casual? Not what i think cloud meant to argue. Truth is... no one knows where P5 would sell best. It's hard to even argue unless you base it on install base... and even then with such huge nets and such a small amount of fish to catch... it's hard to make any conclusions. Hence why the cheaper the system the better. |
No. I never said that at all. Games don't become casual when they appear on the Wii. Twilight Princess is the perfect example of this. But the Mario and Smash games have always been casual games. Anyone can pick up and play. Of course, there are high levels of difficulty to appeal to more experienced gamers. (I'm really not trying to use the word hardcore)

Isn't ToS:DotNW considered a spin off of ToS?

Yes, but it's still a sequel. It follows the events of the first with those characters make appearances.
I just think we need to get some prepective on what exactly the game is.

I haven't played it (not that I can since it hasn't released in Europe), or the first one, so I don't even know the story.
Even though SO4 is on par with ToS2 atm, its probably gonna outsell it eventually. And a note, SO3 sold more than ToS, without PAL data.
edit: ... shouldn't we/you be talking abou Persona 5 here?

Well SO 3 only sold 90k in Europe.
And we're on the 7th page. We can start about whatever now.

It also turned off a lot of people (no world map, monsters [even though I think monsters really connect ToS: DotNW to ToP really well surprisingly. I could explain if someone wants.], changed VAs for most characters, not the same team, ToS characters don't level up and can't put them in the first slot, monsters not even playable, bad reviews, and so on). And there was the "much better" Tales game coming - ToV. When it hits EU sales should be be at 450k-500k lifetime (it's still selling in NA...only like 1k per week but over time it still amounts to something). |
Seriously? Everyone knows DQ mostly sells in Japan. Look at the numbers of all the DQ titles.
