It would be great, but I really don't think one will be announced at E3. Not often that JRPG's are announced E3 first instead of TGS, and I doubt this one will break the trend.

You are wise behind your years Torillian.

I don't see why they'd announce a series that's way more popular in Japan in the US gaming convention. Unless Sony are trying to make 2009 the year of the RPG for them...I dunno. They seem to have a lot of RPG's in the making/preparing to cross to the U.S. but I don't think E3 would be the right place for the announcement since Persona is way bigger in Japan in the first place.

Persona 3

  • US:0.22mil
  • JP:0.21mil

Persona 4

  • US: 0.22mil
  • JP: 0.32mil

There is not that big of a difference betweent the sales in US and Japan.

Didn't one of the P2 games not come out here because it had Hitler and Nazi zombies? :P

Reception

Review scores
Publication Score
IGN 8.2 of 10[8]
GameSpot 8.5 of 10[1]
MobyGames 3.7 out of 5[17]
1UP.com 9.0 of 10[18]
Game Rankings 83%[19]
Metacritic 83 out of 100[20]

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment received a 8.2/10 from IGN.[8]

Although there were reportedly efforts to import the first chapter of Persona 2, Innocent Sin's graphic subject matter may have inhibited its ability to be localized for foreign markets.[21] Examples of this include the resurrection of Adolf Hitler, as well as the option of a homosexual relationship between the protagonist and another male character.[22] On October 15 2008 an english translation patch for Persona 2: Innocent Sin was released by a translation team led by Gemini[23]. The team had been working on translating the game from a Japanese ISO. Apparently after being asked about the topic at a 2008 Anime Expo Atlus seemed aware of the fan translation when it was about 87% complete but allowed the team to continue.

Yup. There's a fan-made patch that makes the game completely in English though, so no one can miss it if he wants to play it

That's like the original storyline to Bionic Commando aka Top Secret: Hitler's revival

As much as I wish this were true, it just doesn't make sense.

Those are very sad numbers for what is often hailed as two of the best games of all time.

i know :(

They are the Valkyria Chronicles of the ending days of the PS2. Maybe the lackluster sales are due to the migrating of userbase. Many people have moved on to next gen already, and the newer model PS3s are not BC (STUPID sony >:l  )

Hopefully whatever the PS3 departure is, it can at least make it to 0.7million. That would make me happy! :D

Or it's that RPGS just don't sell well unless they're mainstream and a bit on the casual side.  Like FF.
