I think most agree, the PS3 had to endure the most abuse from mainly US and UK media.

But that's not the reason for discussing this. I think the differences are being over hyped too often. There are only a few titles where the differences really matter and of those plenty are to the advantage of the PS3 as well.

IMO the PS3 versions usually have the edge when the games are practically identical, for example due to free optional online play (vs extra payment on the 360), being region free or coming supplied on scratch resistant Blu-Ray discs.

This is all great.  Except like many of us, my friends are more on Xbox LIVE.

And I don't use my game discs as drink coasters.  So this has never been a problem for me or many others.

What is your explaination for US and UK media bias?  Especially considering Microsoft is one of the most famous companies for people to "love to hate".  Why did the media switch from neutrality during PS2 days to overnight near universal bias overnight?

Your trolling is so obvious it isn't even funny.  I'd be happy to get the free online play and to be prepared if a tornado hit my living room for my discs not to get scratches.  But until the PS3 is affordable to all my friends Xbox is going to be the version I more often get for multi-player online titles.  And for ones that are not multiplayer the thing I watch for is whether DLC is planned, and if it is, will it be out for both consoles.  I get PS3 games on exclusives, or if I can get them cheaper used from Gamefly etc, or for certain things that are not online like Force Unleashed.

What are you talking about, the PS2 was abused by media early on. With some stories you could nearly copy & paste them, replace PS2 with PS3 and DVD with Blu-Ray and voila you have a modern opinion piece.

It's just that the PS2 sales skyrocketed and thus naysayers would have looked to ridiculous to continue on that road. Later on there was plenty of XBox vs PS2 propaganda.

According to the devs, DiRT had a slight edge on the PS3 technically.

 

It's such an awesome game. I'm playing it on PS3 but I am sure the 360 version is just as good.

So explain the universal bias in US and UK media.  Where are these tech journalists taught to set aside principles of fairness in reporting for this company?  Is Microsoft sending them cookies?  Money?  Are aliens forcing them?  Or is it that there is no mass conspiracy in the media at all.  If Microsoft was so loved by the media there would be no negative Vista articles, no negative articles on the bridge in Washington to connect their campuses with taxpayer dollars.  Where are the mass articles bashing the Walkman in years past?  Where are the mass articles trying to push the Zune in and the iPod out?  Could it be instead that the negative reviews by and large occur for legitimate reasons??  * Gasp *
