I may go pick up this one today...

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Did you get the game yet?

I know my cousin just picked his up after work. I'm about to call him and see is point of view on the game.

yea i just got home

its great, ill give it a pre review tomorrow or in a bit

so far its really fun, has a mature theme, and the voice acting is not as bad as it seems, quite cute in my opinion. Music is great of course, annimation is colorful.

Only complaints i have is..... well none so far ^.^

Direct Comparison of Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata reviews from the big sources:

Gamespot: 6.0 (BD) versus 8.5 (ES)

IGN: 7.9 (BD) versus 8.2 (ES)

1UP/EGM: 6.83 (BD) versus 7.0 (ES)

Game Informer: 9.0 (BD) versus 8.25 (ES)

even OXM: 7.5 (BD) versus 8.0 (ES)

Gamerankings Average: 78% versus 80.4%

Supposedly I'll be getting my copy tomorrow, I pre-ordered.

Again Americans reviewers are bias to Japanese RPG's anyway. I don't never listen to their reviews. Famitsu is what I listen and if I don't I buy what I like.

They're both Japanese RPGs. Are they biased against one and not the other? The best RPGs have gotten amazing scores in the past and will in the future. Blue Dragon is just not as good as it was supposed to be and ES is beating it. I hope (and think) Lost Odyssey will be a lot better at this point.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

just the basic combat of LO looks alot better, and we have yet to see the deep stuff

A quick 1hr review of the game. I haven't had the chance to play much. I promised my girlfriend I'd only play the game w/ her....So that gimps my time on the game.

At any rate:

+ The art is UNGODLY. This puts litterally EVERY game made to shame. N-tards eat your hearts out. There will be no comparison on the Wii, or last-gen to the fantastic art quality that such a HD-optimized game will have. I forgot I was playing a game during the many cutscenes. The cutscenes are anime-quality.
+ The battle transitions (ie, time from initiating a battle to first move) is just about the quickest I've ever seen for a turn based JRPG. No lag, or loading, whatsoever.
+ The music is top-notch. The soundtrack is just as good as Blue Dragon, and quite possibly one of the 5 best I've ever heard. There's also a music player, that you can listen to all the music in the game.
+/- The storyline, atleast 1hr into it, is much better paced and overall better than Blue Dragons. Not a perfect storyline by any means, but definately passable, and better than such JRPG tripe as EM or PSU's SP mode.
+ On-The-Fly language format changing. The subtitles are US-only (but you can cut them off). However, you can goto options and change to Japanese voice-acting at any time. Definate plus.

- The art is flawless, but the graphics for some (not all) terrain isn't as good as Blue Dragon. Blue Dragon still has the watermark, since it has a freeroaming camera.
-/+ Lip-syncing for the English voice acting isn't spot-on. However, the Japanese voice/syncing track is, and it's flawless.
-/+ US VA is passable. Overall, it's as good as Blue Dragon's, but doesn't have Maro. So that's a plus.

Definate buy. Everyone must buy this if you liked Blue Dragon, or liked the Eternal Sonata demo.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Thanks for your mini-review. Sounds like I will be buying this game in a few months. I am only 6-hours into Blue Dragon, I have an unopened copy of Skate, and I am waiting for my copy of HALO 3 to be delivered. I will also be getting Orange Box, COD4, and Mass Effect. My son will be getting (great having children - buy even more games!) Lego Star Wars: Complete Saga, and Crash of the Titans. Good times for gaming!

Thanks for the Review mrstickball, I've been on the fence for this one. And I didn't even realize, this can be two-player? In the battles I assume? I might be able to get my wife to play.

Tag: Hawk - Reluctant Dark Messiah (provided by fkusumot)

Its upto 3 player co-op. The 2nd and 3rd controllers controll the extra characters in battle.
