yeah at least wait till after Christmas before giving up hope. I am thinking its going to have a stellar holiday season, especially if the 40GB $399 model shows up around Thanksgiving.

The battle for second is being waged as we speak. The Playstation name is a strong brand. All Sony needs to do is capture their NA and EU markets. The 360 can't compete in Japan. If Sony can own EU, it has a chance.
Regardless, it'll be close. Think Xbox Vs GC in terms of the difference between consoles sold, not the actual numbers.

It just depends on how aggressive Sony is with their pricing. If they do a $400 model this Christmas it could change a lot, probably not 1st place, but it could really give the PS3 some room to grow. The games are finally on the way, and some are already here, so at least we won't have to deal with crazy ass droughts. SOE and NC Soft games should help out too beyond the Sony first party stuff.

On Topic: I do believe its going to catch up but with Microsoft trying get the Falcon SKU's out and bringing countless titles for the 360 I really don't see the PS3 surpassing the 360 but they will have a close battle.
unusual to see leo-j lose hope, things look bad this year but perhaps they can pull 2nd place ahead of 360 by a small margin.

But to be honest most of those games you say like Assassin Creed or Call of Duty or Devil May Cry 4 are multi-platform and considering that the userbase for the 360 is bigger those games are going to sell better than if they are on the PS3. So first party stuff and third party exclusives to the system is the only way to push the PS3 to the limits this holiday season. If we see no progress of them at least getting close to the numbers of the 360 then its curtains for Sony this generation than.
Why so down. Being a fanboy is ridiculous to begin with. Just enjoy your system, next year will be very different for Sony owners and there will be plenty of stuff to let the PS3 flaunt its stuff.
If it never passes the Wii (or even the 360 in WW sales) who cares. Eventually prices will be low enough to own more than one system and (gasp!) might even own a Wii/360. Then you will wonder why you were ever feeling this way in the first place.

I doubt there will be a 40 GB. I think it is just a rumor.
