I think it will move a solid amount of hardware in Europe, practically nothing in Japan, and a big amount in America, where people who chose 360 for gears and halo will come back to playstation for God of War.
Time for hype

Nah I think that the people that will get the game probably already own a ps3.
Oh,God of War 3?
It'll be a system seller(small, but it will)

I don't think that anything other than GT5, or FFXIII in Japan, will move hardware by itself. I think that games such of GeoW, GOW, KZ2, etc don't sell hardware (people don't buy the system just for that one game), but do boost hardware sales by bringing ATTENTION to the console. I think that GOW will definitely do that within the hardcore community, with it making the front page of gaming sites for a few weeks.

Yep franchises like GeOW, GOW, Killzone etc give a console attention but others like GT, FF and Halo are indeed system sellers of large scale. FFXIII is the one which will be darn obvious, a jump of PS3 sales to 200k for that week is indeed selling systems. :D
Well, the two God of War games sit somewhere in between MGS3 and Gran Turismo 4 in American sales, and the sequels to those games are supposedly the PS3's biggest system sellers.
So why can't GoW3 be a system seller, too? In America, at least. The series was never popular anywhere else for some reason (though I think the series has been undertracked in Europe).

I choose PS3 over the 360 (even after the price cut) back in 2008 just for God of War :)
