Forums - Sales - Why how much a console sells matters!

I know most of you know the answer to this, but I am posting this for the few that don't understand.

What's the big deal, why can't you just be happy with system you got?

What are you guys arguing about, they are just pieces of plastic.

If you don't work for the company, then you shouldn't care.

That is just some of the things I here some people say.

Other than the fact that some people just like the company that makes their console of choice, I personally do not want to have to buy another game system just to play more games if my console of choice losses developer support, not to mention having to re-buy multiplatform games, as I don't like to have two consoles around, and if I like my current selection of exclusive games, I will be gaming on two consoles.

So that is my thoughts on why people argue and defend their console of choice and talk alot about sales. Gamers want their console of choice to sell well, so that console will not loose developer support, the more a console sells the more developer support it gets, the less a console sells relative to another console, there is a chance it can loose developer support, it has happened before and I think it can still happen this generation.

Hmmmm i dunno i mean if Im one of thos ppl who like seeing the company make money and sell console like crazy to not lose dev support then I would have gotten a Wii but most of 3rd party titles are only released on ps3/360 even tho the Wii kicks the butt of both of these console in terms of sales + all the exclusive games that I want are ps3 exclusive like GOW3 and uncharted so IMO i would rather get the system that has the games that I want than the system who's selling like hot cakes but doesn't have/ provide me with the games that Im interested in.

The quotes the OP has aren't usually said when it's a sales discussion, for e.g. "PS3 outsold Wii again", "Xbox dominated 08 holiday", etc. Those are undeniable objective facts, and they do "matter".

These quotes do come up when well reputed and attention grabbing fanboys make threads bashing another console over an subjective opinion such as "Gaystation 3 sucks" "M$ is evil", etc. These kinds of threads sometimes do bring up objective, but irrelevant facts such as sales to support those subjective thoughts. It's not that "sales don't matter", but it's that "sales don't matter in how good, fun, and enjoyable a console is".

Industry Support.....It is the Reason why None Xbox gamers are so skewered by how things are going....
