Forums - Gaming - How To Swing Like A Pro In The Bionic Commando Multiplayer Demo (And More)

(NOTE: This thread is not to be taken seriously if you understand that Bionic Commando's swinging controls are perfect and you understand physics, obviously.)

OK, you guys are probably saying "What's the point of this thread?" Well, to put it simply, I'm tired of hearing people saying how the swing mechanics don't work in Bionic Commando and that it should work more like "this" or "that." Also, I have lots of time on my hand on a Friday night! I don't want to sound rude or anything, but to the people that say those things, can you really not understand simple laws and theories of physics? What the heck is wrong with realistic swinging in a realistic 3D looking game in the 7th generation of console with HD games? This situation is almost as bad as people wishing for arcade style driving controls in Grand Theft Auto IV. Seriously. Enough with that, let's get on with the tutorials (or something like that)!

First of all, let's discuss the case of the "half moon." Let's take a look at it:

The thing you want to do here is get from building 1 to building 2 WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GROUND once. It sounds hard, I know, but if you use your head a little and think, scientifically speaking, it's not so bad. What you want to do is get momentum before the first jump. You also want to have your camera face the grappling point shown above here. Obviously, the above image is in a 2D plan... So, to make things a bit easier, let's take a look at the front of the grappling point:

The top bar is where you're aiming at with your bionic arm and camera, in the game obviously. Now, the magic here is to press the L trigger (it shoots your arm in the game, duh) in the FIRST HALF OF THE HALF MOON. Be vigilant here! Notice your surroundings, don't hit anything and it should be alright. Now, the other trick here is to release the L trigger a bit before the SECOND HALF OF THE HALF MOON. I can't think of a more simple reason to release it here... I mean, what this'll do is give your little bionic man a bit of momentum in the air, and if you keep pressing the control stick up in the desired direction, you will make it on top of the other building. Give yourself a little pat in the back, it wasn't so hard after all was it?

Now, second case: the half half moon. Let's take a look at it:

OK, what you want to do here is to get on top of another building WHILE YOU'RE DROPPING down from a building or something like that WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GROUND once. Again, I know it sounds hard, but let me hold your hand during this whole process and everything is going to be just fine! Like shown on the image, you want to press the L trigger while facing the same top bar from before. Note that you can shoot it pretty much anywhere while you're dropping. IT DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING. The real trick here is to release the L trigger RIGHT AT THE END OF THE HALF HALF MOON. Why release it here? Well... It will make you land a lot faster and you can easily target your enemy a lot faster that way as well. You don't want your enemy to "abuse you" while you're still high up in the air, right? Otherwise, something like this might happen:

Luckily, this won't happen with what I told you. Well, you might ask yourself "Well, why does it make my little bionic man go in a straight line?" Well... It's just simple physics laws. There's no more rotational movement, so if there's no force opposing the one you're giving to the top pole by your bionic arm, well there's nothing that will stop you in your way (unless a bird appears out of nowhere and other random stuff like that).

EXTRA: Tips on how to use your bionic arm for massive damage (or how to make your enemy fall down a 200 km tall building). In the 3D version of Bionic Commando, GRIN included a fun little ability to use with your arm called the "zipline kick." What it does is... well... you grab your bionic arm-equipped enemy, then press the jump button and press the jump button again (A button on the 360 version). Your enemy will go flying in a straight line, and it hurts him as well. If you run out of ammo or think that your current gun can't do a good job at killing your enemy, this is the trick for you! Also, what's funny is that your enemy might be a complete newbie at the game and don't even know how to get back up on top of a building while he's falling down to a cruel and imminent death...

Also, you can get on top of a building/platform if you hook on a face of said building or bottom/side face of said platform and press the jump button. GRIN made it so that you will automatically jump on top of the part you're hooked on. Easy, eh? It doesn't even have anything do with physics too (honestly, this is unrealistic)!

Last thing!!! Did you know that, instead of running toward your enemy, you can hook on a part of the ground near your enemy and if you press the jump button after jumping, your arm will transport your body to said hooked part? This makes travelling a bit easier, and is also very helpful when you're getting knocked out of a building because of a "zipline kick."

That's about it for now. I'm not going to tell you guys how to evade in the game (yes, there's an evade button). Look for it, and I assure you that you will get a big advantage over everyone online.

Be Bionic!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
