I haven't seen the show, but I've seen the movie several times and in my anime class we just watched it, discussed it for a whole day, and read a bunch of articles about it.  It's considered a classic anime by film critics.

The animation is really good, and the film is cinematically really great, so it's really easy on the eyes.  But not much really happens.  It's good to fall asleep to and finish in the morning.

Like WoW said, it can feel disjointed and/or forced.  But it's gorgeous.

You are right.I don´t really watch that much anime the last one I remember finishing was death note.

I am more of an avid manga fan.I read Bakuman,shaman king,one piece,naruto,to love ru.The thing is that it gets boring to wait until the video loads,their are tons of fillers,so it gets annoying.While the pace in manga is as fast as I want it to be.In addition I copy some of the drawings to practice.The only anime that I think I will be watching is the new fma.

You know, it's rather difficult to take this response seriously considering you mention Naruto, One Piece, and Death Note.

Some feature films... Grave of Fireflies (if you a suicidal emo dont watch that movie), Millennium Actress, Wings of Honnemaise, Tokyo Godfathers, Princess Mononoke.

Some you will have to torrent are:

Bokura ga Ita

Both of those are romantic/drama but aren't horrible.
