He was referring to Sony's lofty claims, not about the realistic claims. Properly utilized, the Cell would likely make the PS3 the most powerful system this gen.* Yet all the stuff about 4D graphics and shooting for the sun instead of the moon is just hype. The system does have a lot of untapped power, though.
*I wasn't sure at first, since it has less memory than the 360. Then I found a past parallel in gaming. The Neo-Geo actually has less memory than the SNES. Yet its process is much more powerful. So the Neo-Geo does have better graphics and performance. Not leap and bounds, yet it still is more powerful.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
