You should be good with just the installer there. Open the "TF2 Content" folder in steamapps in the Steam program folder.

Pretty much the only thing you can view is the sounds...unless you use other programs to view textures and stuff if you want.

But then again, you'll probably be able to play the game in a couple hours, so yeah hehe.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

So beta is out already? Screenies? Vids? Something? :)

I also bought Company of Heroes on Steam this weekend...since I haven't played a good RTS for some time, and it only costs $30 on Steam.

Man...PC games get cheap VERY fast...one advantage over consoles. I suppose after paying a bit more for a good gaming PC, cheaper games is one plus.

Is it?  I am unaware, since I'm working for 5 more hours.  I was talking about viewing the files available if you pre-loaded it though...

According to a chat on HalfLife2.net, we'll see the TF2 beta open no later than 8 pm Chicago time...that's 9 pm Eastern, 6 pm Pacific...etc...

Nah its not out yet, but if you have the preload you can use the tool Ben linked to listen to the commentaries. I find it interesting the correlation between the strategies for development being used by Nintendo and Valve and their success. For instance their emphasis in the commentary stated they watch as many people play the game as possible to get their feedback. Couldn't help but think of some of the stuff we have heard about Miyamoto. There is no denying that the method works, and it seems to consistently produce good games. Lets just hope all of the games in the Orange Box live up to what we have built them up to in our minds lol.

Just curious but out of the new games, what order are you going to be playing them?

For me since the beta starts today TF2 obv will be first, but I will likely play Portal 2nd and Ep 2 last.

To Each Man, Responsibility

@BenKenobi: Off topic but Company of Heroes is hands down the best RTS in years.

Amazing game, simply amazing.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

My friend raved about it forever, but my computer wasn't nearly good enough to play it...now it is, and even though he's probably moved on (he's the kind that plows through games and forgets about them)...I really wanted to play this one.

I've created a Steam group for everyone who wants to play Steam games online with other VGChartz members. I sent invites to everyone who posted their SteamID in this thread.

Haha...derrrr, it just occurred to me that I can access Steam Community anywhere...even if Steam doesn't install on Windows ME over here...I'll join that group then.
