Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5 and some vgc opinions, wtf.

I've given up on talking to people about sales of Gran Turismo 5, it's going to sell as well as Halo 3 or better, and I refuse to go into more detail for the fear that I might have to reiterate what has been said in this thread 300 times already.

People just can't get it through their heads, and won't until the game comes out, so I'm giving up until then.

I don't care what the hell they do with Forza 3, but GT5 will rape it no matter how crappy it is. Not even a ghost of a chance that Forza will outsell it. As to which will be the better game, that's totally up in the air, but it won't matter sales-wise. For example, which is a better FPS: CoD4 or Halo 3? and which sold more? exactly.

Really? That is what you want to argue? PS3 owners will buy whatever is put in front of them? As for your last question: Cod4.... and?

If you dont care enough to put the thought into it don't post.  It just makes you look like a troll or a fanboy that knows hes wrong but his fanboy hater nature forces him to argue.

So according to you PS3 wont grow past 60m, lets use that 60 million as a starting point.

Using the often cited 120m PS2 sold, GTs sold 27m on PS2 = 22.5 attach rate.  So for arguments sale lets say 60 million PS3s so lets use same over all attach rate for PS3 = 13.5 million sold.  Even if you subtract the 3m GT5p the full game is over 10m.  Iam sure this can be very much arged both ways but it can potentially be used to gauge sales for GT5 give or take.

Why am i convinced it will, well it sold 22 million with lowest entry point being $400, price will come down sales will continuet user base willl grow. Its successor is not coming for a long ass time so its a pretty basic formula.

So... a game is now expected to match the attach rate of all of the previous generation's iterations combined?

Did you read it.  And no just showing Gt does not need a user base of +100m to sale well.

GT5 will def. sell more than forza 3 but will not sell as much as previous GT's.

GT5: decrease from previous (it peaked)
Forza 3: increase from previous (potential growth)

Spoken like a true car fan. That is why Forza leapfrogged, beat, and then spun around and anally raped the GT series in my eyes.

Polyphony has a goldmine on their hands. If they continue their steadfast refusal to move forward with innovation, I will continue to put the franchise in my rear view mirror.

Sony has a real chance to do something special with GT5. If they don't match Forza 2 physically and optional-wise, it's a failure. I really want GT5 to be Forza 2 plus options and graphics but at this point, I'm pretty damned skeptical.

I think Rallysport Challenge 2 on the Xbox was my favorite racer last gen. Really fantastic game. If you've never checked it out, do so. This gen it's Grid.

In one swoop credibility destroyed. Just go sit in the corner NAO!!!

lol, are you trying to tell me Rallysport Challenge 2 is a...bad game?

I don't know, myself, but I do know that Grid is the most overrated racing game this generation. I liked Ridge Racer 7 more. I liked it as much or less than Motorstorm. Burnout is better. Midnight Club is better. Mario Kart...although disappointing, is better. I haven't played NFS this generation. Grid had a nice concept, the time reversal, but other than that I didn't like it and it didn't do a whole lot new or that well. But to each his own, I guess.

GT has always gotten plenty marketing.  It deserves it just liek Halo cause its a huge seller fanboys like you foolishly expect Sony to give a title that is projected to do 1.5/2 million a HAlo like ad budget which is utterly ignorant.

And Sony has "always" had plenty of funds available to do so.  Sony, and the Playstation brand, are not in the same position they have been in the previous generations.    It might deserve it, just like plenty of other great PS3 games that have come out so far have deserved it, but that doesn't guarantee it will happen.  All I was saying is that Sony has done a poor job marketing their big titles this generation and Microsoft has done a much better job with their titles (first party, third party and multi-platform), which is fact.

Can you understand GT is a sure seller ? it gets a huge ad budget becasue it makes back the money its a no risk situation.  GT5p probably took care of much of that already its that simple.  GT is a sound investment that always pays of for them, its a +1 billion dollar franchise.

Just what big title did Sony have to market this gen? not a single one of then is even 1/3rd the selling capability of GT5.  Dude you don't spend 50m advertising somethign projected to sale 1.5 million life time, that would be moranic.

As far as GT5 marketing it will be same levels liek before thaough all of you will never see half of it, you don't read car mags go to car shows or partake in the automotice culture.  GT5 will get a load of markleting your eyes will never see, its targeted specificaly on the car enthusiast.

Actually, I do.  I have never seen one promo for GT5 at any of my local or state wide events.  And come to think of it, I haven't noticed any for GT5 at nationals either.
