Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5 and some vgc opinions, wtf.

Really wtf, not all but many one here and a few special cases really make me wonder if they are just really that big haters/fanboys or are they really just that dense.

A few priceless and very cluless arguments.

User base to small, No way PS3 small user base support such sales.
GT3 sold due to 120 million user base.
GT is not as atrong franchise as it used to be.
GT5 wont out sale GTA4

- GT3 came out on a 12 million user base sold 15 million.  Halo3 (fun coincidence) released on a 12 million user base now has sold almost 10 million and reality is that halo3 is close to 10 millioin sold with the 360 user base only at 30 million.  Apperantly you don't need a 100 million user base to sale 10 million.

Also many on here act as if the PS3 user base wont increase by the time GT5 comes out / wont increase during GT5 retail life cycle.  Really WTF is with that delusional mentality.

- GT3s succesor was out when PS2 was hitting 60 million, so nuff with that bs.

- Seriously come on a $40 demo as manu of you love to call it sold +3 million, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to see GT is as strong as ever.  And there are other quality options (grid) for racing games but like in the past they are almost no competition and have little if any affect on GTs status as the premier racer.

- GTA4 is a freaking multiplat now and has done 5.5 and is still selling.  GT5 has the benefit of launching on a much bigger launch day user base and it is now unarguably the biggest PS3 exclusive.  It has all the makings for far surpassing GTA4 sales.

Go nuts.

GT5 will sell Allot I don't know if it will sell as much as its Predecessors but it will sell well no matter what the hatters/slash fanboys say.

I don't think it will be to hard for GT5 to sell 8-10m ltd. really it could go anyway. It could get bundled and easily sell over 10m for all we know.

But in reality we will just have to wait until GT5 comes out to see what happens...

Its Sonys biggest hardware mover they will bundle the hell out of it like the previous GTs.

And true, time will come and reality will slap us all silly.

GT selling 15M on a system that hit over 120M was a great feat, but that was when it had no real competition.

When GT5 is released, it will be competing with Forza 3 (which will probably have been released before GT5) and be selling on a system with a much lower installed base than the PS2.

I'm guessing that without bundling, it'll do 4-5M sales. The GT series is losing steam. I have been through every GT made to 100% compeltion but I am at the point no that I don't even care if GT5 comes out. While I wait for that for what seems an eternity I played Forza 2 and now I see no reason at all to go back or remain excited for a game that doesn't exist yet.

Alot of the people that bought that $40 demo were more than a little dissapointed the game hadn' evolved in any way besides from a visual standpoint.

I have to agree with twingo I feel that Gt is gonna do pretty well considering their "demo" sold over 3 million plus downloads.

I though i had taken care of that, GT3 never had the benefit of selling to a 120m user base.

Best selling Forza is on prologues level sales wise, if Forza really were serious comp it would have hurt GT5p sales right ? but it failed to do that.  Seriously if Forza can't even hurt a $40 GT "demo" do you really think it will do much to the full GT5 ?  Even if it really is true comp (i dont see it as) GT5p out sold Forza 2 in Europe while Japan simply don't care about it, the precident has already been set.  The only market it has any chance of hurting GT5 in any way is NA, where a minority of GTs sales come from these days.

GT losing steam come on, GT5p sales cant be dissmissed no matter how much any one tries.  Look at Grid sales 700k PS3 87 metascore (Forza2 got 90) its a high quality game and released on PS3 yet its sales comapred to a "demo" do tell me a hell of alot as it should tell you.  GT still is te premier racer.

even with a install 0f 120 million halo 3 will still sell 10million. hardcore gamers are always the same. casual gamers buy 75% of the consoles. gow 2 sold 30% less then gow, suikoden 5 sold like crap, etc.(with 100 million ps2 out there.)
gt5 will outsold gta4 easily. people love cars.

No exclusive game other than Halo 3 on the HD consoles will sell more than 10 million copies. Halo 3 will also outsell every GT game excluding GT3. Bank on it.

Not only Forza but NFS: Shift, maybe not in the same league but it's competition all the same.

As far as sales go.. We'll see.. You have to look at WHY GT3 sold so much, was it bundling? Did it innovate heavily? Was it a huge step up from it's predecesors? Why did it sell so well and what does GT5 have in common with it as far as what the game is doing compared to other racers or other games.

GT sells heavily to the casual consumer, a consumer base that the PS3 is currently lacking compared with the PS2 so I think if it can get close to 10 Million, it's done very very well.
