I almost wonder if this post was a deliberate attempt at satire.
DVD is mainstream and the mass populus is currently not sprining for this new Blu-Ray storage medium.

"mass populus" is not springing for HD movies. But for all of those that are watching hd movies, the absolute default standard medium is blu-ray.
What other hd format is competing with Blu-ray? the only thing is downloadable movies.
there does not have to be a switch to blu-ray if there isnt first a switch to hd.
How can people work up a hatred for something as arbitrary as blu-ray?
Ludites are everywhere I guess.
When a movie comes out that can only fit on a 500gb disc, then call me. Until then I await your call, it should be arriving in about 1 MILLION YEARS...
Do you know how much holo discs cost right now? Are all developers on board with blu-ray? I hardly think microsoft would be able to push holo discs at this moment or anytime soon (when ps5/6 comes out maybe).
Presently, there are forms of holographic data storage that store more than typical Blu-Ray discs and are estimated to cost less than USD $1 to manufacture. (sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Card and http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/english/NEWS_EN/20050608/105586/)
The players and recorders are incredibly expensive at this point in time, but that's rating them for IMMEDIATE release. Not in another two or three years. Blu-Ray was just as expensive initially, and part of what has kept it expensive is low adoption rates due to its failure to present a vast, distinct advantage over DVD. Don't get me wrong; I'd love a Blu-Ray player. However, most consumers don't see it as presenting a significant enough advantage.
Given that a single, original-prototype HVD disc holds in excess of 500GB and is theorized to hold as much as 4TB, this will be able to present a much more significant advantage. Such as possibly being the technology that we still use in another 50 years (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_data_storage#Longevity).

I thought what they are saying is the disc can be played on DVD players and Blu Ray players. Just like a divx disc can be played on a DVD player. In which case no one needs to jump on a storage medium. It means you can put like 100 of your DVDs on one disc and play it on your $20 DVD player or $500 blu ray player. It means the next Super Smash bros game can pack more features and polygons than could be dreamed of, etc.
If I am wrong and they are saying you need to get a new hardware to play back the discs then this is probably a pointless thing they have developed.

Corrected your correction. When correcting someone maybe you could use complete sentence so you don't confuse people even more.
