I thought what they are saying is the disc can be played on DVD players and Blu Ray players. Just like a divx disc can be played on a DVD player. In which case no one needs to jump on a storage medium. It means you can put like 100 of your DVDs on one disc and play it on your $20 DVD player or $500 blu ray player. It means the next Super Smash bros game can pack more features and polygons than could be dreamed of, etc.
If I am wrong and they are saying you need to get a new hardware to play back the discs then this is probably a pointless thing they have developed.
