Forums - Microsoft - Namco bringing MagnaCarta 2 to US Xbox 360 owners

Another JRPG destined to fail because they didn't want to go multiplatform. I guess this game will soon join the ranks of Blue Dragon, TLR, IU, ToV, and SO4....

I'm curious what you would consider good sales for a JRPG?  Aside from ToV which is sadly not the sales it deserves, the rest you mention seem to be in line with what JRPGs sold on the PS2.   Take out anything not named Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Kingdom Hearts and the number of million+ sellers is a very short one, and the PS2 has sold, what, more than 4 TIMES what the Xbox 360 has to date?

So what how many units should a JRPG need to sell to be considered a success in your mind?

Keep in mind some of those also either haven't been released yet in Europe or we don't have data for them in that region.

Namco can't bring over half of their Tales games but they'll bring over Magna Carta? Talk about ass-backwards decisions.

And that mega man derp pic made me say ROFFLE!

May i remind you that no tales except the first tales of symphonia on gamecube actually sold 1 millions units worldwide in one version? (because, yes of course, phantasia has 4 versions, destiny has 3, eternia has 2, destiny 2 has 2, rebirth has 2, symphonia has 2, legendia and abyss and tempest and innocence have one, hearts has two, vesperia will got it's second version, tos 2 has one).

So, even if i, supposely, don't share your feelings for tov, as a tales fan last tales makes me wanna scream and play old ones, no tales and even more the new tales, deserves good sales as even good tales don't do 500k sales lifetimes worldwide, except for symphonia 1.

may i remind you that before ps1 era, no rpg reached europe and a few reached NA. it is only with ps2 that even little games like the nippon ichi games were released everywhere.

And don't speak for NA not receiving tales, please.

Japan receives everything.

NA received Phantasia (gba), destiny (ps1), eternia (your destiny 2, which is why noone outside of japan has the real destiny 2, thanks namco america, ps1), symphonia (gc), legendia, abyss, tos 2 and vesperia. you didn't receive : destiny 2 (ps2 and psp), rebirth (same), tempest (ds), innocence (ds), hearts (ds) and some destiny remakes (ps2). When you think of it, NA receives all consoles tales games since symphonia, including lost in Atlantic ocean legendia and abyss.

Europe received : phantasia (gba), eternia (psp), symphonia 1 (gc) and has not yet received vesperia and tos 2 but will receive them.

we didn't receive : destiny (ps1 and remakes), destiny 2, rebirth, legendia, abyss, tempest, innocence, hearts and not yet tos 2 and vesperia.

still thinking nothing arrives?

Nice. All I need is an artbook confirmation.

What are you talking about? Europe getting screwed doesn't excuse Namco, it adds to my point.
