How many people here played the past 4 games? Do you people think, given the trailers we saw a few years back that the game play deserves the name of the franchise?

But the point of my first post in this thread was that they DIDN'T change the gameplay. They completely SCRAPPED it and REPLACED it with a NEW one, which is just an Assassin's Creed/Bourne rip off. Again, I'm not denying it's possible greatness, popularity, etc in its own right, but from my personal experience a LOT of SC fans were pissed off, after seeing the gameplay footage and hearing absolutely nothing from the devs.
Who knows? They could make everything work. The combat system fun, etc. But it's not a SPLINTER CELL game. It's just a Asssassin's Creed/Bourne game. There's NOTHING in common with Convictions and the other game except for the name, character and settings. Nothing about the games are similar. Absolutely NOTHING. And I want to play a Splinter Cell game (imagine how I felt before hearing XIII's multiplat announcement, when I heard SC: C's exclusivity?), not Assassin's Creed.
If they want to make this game, then please don't use a name that represents a completely different gameplay =(

@Akvod
As far as I understand, the reason for the huge delay was because they decided to go back and make some fundamental changes to the game, and this was after the negative reactions to the last shown videos.
I think they realized how similar the video looked Assassin's Creed, and decided that some big changes needed to be made. I'm still excited for it.

Chaos Theory Trailers:
More Holywood-ish One:
Gameplay:
DA Trailer (I hated the story and direction. I can forgive the really cliche death and reaction of Sarah [Sam lost countless of friends, killed his best friend in the last game, killed an unarmed woman in a matter of seconds when ordered, and crawled through a pile of dead corpses in his younger days], but the love relationship with Enrica was simply shallow, unnatural, etc. The plot felt way too Holywood... or a better word is less Tom Clancy-ish):
Convictions Gameplay
(One of the comments: this is NOT splinter cell. This is GTA with sam fisher)

I used to be excited about SC:C. Now I have a hard time caring. It's been too long.
But a new Ghost Recon game? Oooh, now that I can get behind.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/
This should be interesting.
