Forums - Sony - CAPCOM and SONY UNITE for MULTI-MILLION MH PSP promotional campaign (PR)

Few problems:

1. From most accounts, the game itself seems... okay - It's not pokemon quality, in other words.

2. I don't like how we are expected to play Ad-Hoc. I don't know many people with PSP's, and I can't honestly think of many times when we would be playing together.

3. Work in an Infrastructure online mode! Why do we have to be in the same room? All the new PSP's have mics built in, lots of games have stellar online modes, why not go for it?

The problem with these types of games is that they get extremely difficult at a point, because they are meant to be beat with the help of extra people, but the only available mode is Ad-Hoc. That mode is rarely used outside of Japan, putting a major stall on the game - maybe build up the mode first, then the games around it, but don't build the game around the modes nobody uses.

...This is more of a response to what David Reeves was saying about building up this "social phenomenon" outside of Japan. I am very happy they are advertising it, and hope it does great.

Well i guess you could spin it either way. PSP and MH in Japan are strong and this will only tighten that relationship.
But i see the point for MH3 and the franchise on Wii as well. My own personal opinion though, after last years E3, 3rd party exclusives can always become multiplat. And just maybe Sony is trying to treat 3rd parties better to get more titles on there platform(s)

Sony treated Square really good back in the days, even saving their ass.....and look at them now.

Sony is behind Capcom on this all the way because they want the PSP to rise from obscurity in the West.  Monster Hunter was the game that did that for the PSP in Japan and they'd love to replicate that success in the West.

You can't promote the Monster Hunter brand on PSP without spreading awareness of the console version at the same time.

I can't help but laugh at the Nintendo fanboys celebrating this.....

Why? If this marketing is succesful and the franchise becomes bigger MH3 will also benefit.

For sure, it's just funny though how Nin fanboys are celebrating it.

Spot on - I don't think Sony care about MH3 at all, all they want is for PSP to start to repllicate its JP performance in the west...

Yeah...we're celebrating future success of a big game with effort coming to the Wii. Everyone else would do the same if MH3 were on another system.

Shocking!

Not really, I really don't give much of a shit about Monster Hunter. And you all are not celebrating the fact that MH3 is going to the Wii, well at least not in this thread. It's a little too late for that celebration don't you think? The game was announced a long ass time ago.

Shocking!

No, we're celebrating the fact that the game can sell even better on the Wii.

Everybody does the same.

And I think it's funny the way you guys are going about celebrating it.

Everybody wins.

And also Capcom will shortly make MH3P anyway, so everybody wins.
