Forums - General - Summer movies. Which movie will be most popular? most anticipated?

Summer movies are here and i think it's gonna be the most profitable year yet.

May 1 -  wolverine!  -   $151,000,000

May 8th - Star Trek:  $147,000,000.

May 15th - Angels and Demons:  $48,000,000

May 22th - Terminator and Night at the Museum:  Terminator looks good but not Night at the Museum.  I think Arnold will make a cameo appearance in Termiator so gotta go see it.

May 29th - UP:  I don't know what this movie is all about, but it's made by Pixar so I guess I'll go see it.  Pixar makes great movies and they have not let me down yet.

June 5th - Land of the Lost:  Funny actor in adventure movie doesn't mix well.  I'll wait for the video.

June 12h - the Taking of Pelham 123:  I don't know much about this movie, but it's got great cast and a great director so I'm gonna check it out.

June 19th - The Proposal:  You might laugh but I think this is going to be the romantic comedy of the year!  I'm taking my wife to see this for sure.

Year One:  i don't think this will make a lot of money but looks freaking hilaious.

June 26th - Transformers 2  - this will make a ton of money.  I might wait for the dvd though.

July 1 - Ice Age:   will make money but no big deal.     Public Enemy:  johnny depp as a bad guy - will make money

July 10th - Bruno:  it stars Sacha so enough said.

July 15th - harry potter:  seriously, get it over with!  enough is enough.  but i'm sure my kids will want to see it.

July 24th - G-Force:  Disney's family adventure - will make money

July 31th - Funny People - Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan - will be good.

August 7th - G.I. Joe:  I think this will be good too, but will wait for the dvd.

August 14th - Disctrict 9:  This will be a good sci-fi movie.

August 21th - Ingorious Bastards:

August 28th - Final Destination and Halloween 2 - two scary movies going head to head - halloween 2 will win.

have a great summer at the movies.

Star trek and terminator for me, love 'em

Harry Potter will wipe everything else out this summer.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Bet: If Kingdom Hearts 3 becomes a multiplaform title/is not Wii exclusive then I will be banished from this land for 1 week and sing my praises to those who have proved themselves to be more intelligent than I.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/RDBRaptor/rdbraptor_sig16.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">
My Anime List

on my to watch list:

Star Trek (love the franchise and i have high hopes for this film)
Bruno (ali g and borat were both so funny, cant miss this one)
Harry Potter (i read all the books, so ill give it a look)
Angels and Demons (this one is only a maybe)
Terminator (again, a maybe)

none of the others intrest me, infact some of them look awful

Popularity wise there is no question. Your answer is Harry Potter. The sales of the previous movies are all among the twenty best selling theatrical releases of all time.

Personally I'm interested in seeing Star Trek, UP, Bruno, Public Enemy and Funny People. I'm going to have to go see Terminator also because of friends, but I have no faith in McG, so I'm assuming it will be hot garbage.

Fuck Star Trek. Quit milking the franchise to death.

Terminator would have no potential if it wasn't for Christian Bale - but I am going to go see it because he is in it only. At least they are abandoning the pre-Skynet storyline.

I'm not going to see Angels and Demons, but it will make some killer money at the box office.

I'm not going to see Harry Potter, but it will make some killer money at the box office.

Odds are in Transformers 2's corner though for top grossing box office receipts (at least domestically). It destroyed two summers ago. Its going to be an abomination of a film of course.

I'll see Up as well. Looks pretty interesting.

Hell yes at Public Enemies. That movie looks BADASS.

I won't comment on anything else.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Nah dude, Transformers beat all the Harry Potter films (at least domestically).  I think the first one beat it if you adjust for inflation though.  But the revenues are rarely breaking $300 million domestically on those.

Harry Potter will definitely have a better world-wide gross though by a big margin.  Whole world loves that shit!

Why wouldn't I be talking about worldwide? Do you really think the Transformers guys would trade positions with the Harry Potter guys just for a stronger domestic box office? Plus the last Potter flick only did about 30 million less domestically than Transformers plus it's worldwide is over 240 million more. Potter is actually within reach to take Transformers 2 domestically in addition to the world wide box office.
