E3 2009: Microsoft Promises Transformational Show

Big words in advance of a big event.

April 28, 2009 - Don Matrtick, Microsoft's senior vice president for Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft (say that three times fast), has put out a statement through the Entertainment Software Association promising to kick off E3 in "blockbuster style." In fact, the senior vice president even went so far as to say that Microsoft's presence will, "completely transform how people think about home entertainment." That's a powerful statement. Here's the complete quote from Mattrick:

"Microsoft is gearing up for a big presence at E3 which will completely transform how people think about home entertainment. We're excited about the momentum that is building in the industry in anticipation of our June 1st media briefing, which will kick off E3 in blockbuster style."

What would it take to transform the way you think about home entertainment? Leave a comment and let us know.

I can't wait until E3.

I am hyped purely from the word 'transformational'. I am hoping to see Optimus Prime. Or a 360 that can transform into something.

If I were them (assuming that they had no ultra secret game ready to be released 2009/early 2010) I would showcase multiplatform games like FF. Bolster that by teasing everyone with 2010-11 releases such as ME 2.

They have a big advantage going before Sony. If they could they should show off games like AC2.

They should also showcase games like (1 vs 100) and reinforce their online community aspect and claim that it's better than PSN.

The transforming 360 from Transformers?
FF13 Exclusive outside of Japan?
USB Fleshlight Attachment with DOA XBV 3?

On a serious note:
Zune HD with 360 interaction(touchscreen HUD)?

lol, TRANSFORMATIONAL

sounds awesome, pity they didn't use that word though.

So let me just confirm this, transforming home entertainment will have absolutely nothing to do with anything any other company has done already, but dressed up as a brand new innovation?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
