Well, they were. From June to January AMD had the best value at almost all price points. You know what happened? AMD and Nvidia's market share stayed the same at 30% and 20% respectively. Because of ignorant consumers who don't check the PC specs before they buy, and Nvidia's superior marketing.

yeah it's a shame. It can only be fixed if AMD really dominates a gen like nvidia did with G80. Unfortunately such a gen is rare.

Yes. Nvidia's been making a lot of engineering mistakes recently (overheating G80/G92s; 55nm and 40nm GT200 shrinks being delayed massively; being forced to do an X2 part they probably lose money on) so I hope ATI can win the next gen outright.
