Am I just being stupid, but why would a video at the end of CC blatantly advertising The Story Continues in Final Fantasy VII, to have the remade FFVII being released on a different platform?

I feel that the remade FFVII is more likely to appear on the PSP, especially if CC gets good sales, which it has already.

Also, didn't SE state that they would not be announcing more games on the PS3 until they saw sales of the units dramatically increasing.

Also there are over 6m PSP's in Japan and over 23m WW, a remake on the PSP would cost dramatically less than on the PS3. And in Japan, there are only around 1.2m PS3's with under 5m WW.

Come this time next year, there could easily be 35m PSP compared to 10-15m PS3's...so a much bigger fanbase as well.

 Your right davygee 8)

They could just simply port FFVII to the PS Store... the PSP does emulate PS1 games. That way it would boost PSP and PS3 sales.

That's been my problem with all of this craziness - we all seem to be assuming that a FFVII remake would be exclusive to the PS3 because of the PS3 tech demo, the PSP video that looks like the tech demo, and, I guess, the fact that the PSP is a Sony product. To my knowledge, that's all the evidence we have.

There's something pretty wrong with that reasoning - it should be obvious that one can't argue that 'only the PS3 can handle it' because, after all, the PSP is handling it. That's the cause of all this excitement. The Wii could easily handle it as CG, and you might be able to straight port the game to the DS. As well, is there any reason to think that the PS3 base is at all similar to the PSP base?

Exactly,

Dont you guys think that if there wasnt a remake there would be the ps1 game in the ps store by now?

Yeah, Shiva (a staple Summon in the FF Franchise) is a... motorcycle in FFXIII. It's just getting ridiculous at this point IMO. As LToK said, Hiranobu Sakaguchi (creater of FF) and Nobuo Uematsu (most brilliant video game composer of all time and composer for FFI-X) is gone. Ironically, the FF theme song he created years ago is still being used in FFXIII, but that's the only song of his to appear. The music will most likely be sub-par just like FFXII's music was. Without Sakaguchi the plot will probably turn out as bad as FFXII's as well.

FFXII is the perfect example of what a studio can do to a game when it loses it's biggest developers. It's kind of sad to see what can happen to a series. Interestingly, both Sakaguchi and Uematsu consider FFIX their favorite game in the series and the best work they have ever done. Just throwing that out there.

Edit: if you couldn't tell I'm a fanboy of the classic FF style, and I'm attempting to gain more followers lol.

Bingo, sakaguchi plot i expect to be in LO, not BD, cause well, made for japan and made by artoon /sigh

9 was great, would of liked zidane and a few others with better design, and a few other things, like better trances, but besides that  great game if you liked the original FF, i liked the new steps (ff 7 and 8) a little more but 9 was great

Yes 12 is a perfect example of how when they lose developers, they lose the heart of the game. The music was almost non existant in ff 12, and the story just sucked.  Period (my opinion!). What happened when they lost those two geniuses

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Congratulations. Your justification for another OMFG FNAL FANTXYY SEVEN REEEEMAKE thread is a blatant and obvious reference at the end of Crisis Core that it's a prequel to a 10 year old game where its story is "continued."

First off go away

Thank you and good bye

Except he's right, so back off.

It's pretty obvious the game is referring to that the story continues in (THE ORIGINAL) Final Fantasy VII.

naz:  I have to say, Blue Dragon was an extreme disappointment.  The demo was sloppy and completely confusing.  Meanwhile, I have 50+ hours clocked in Final Fantasy XII and I'm still going.

Alright.... understand that "to be continued" means it has NOT YET HAPPENED this yes could be the original, but they wouuld have to re release it in stores or on PSN.

I wont back off, i bet he hasnt even played the game, hes dissing our hopes that one of our most favorite and classic games is not coming back so we can stop being happy so you can back off.

BD has already been reviewed highly on here, and highly in many parts. Made by artoon, id say the developers did rather well. Lo should be the test of Sakaguchi and his story telling, and of uematsu music.

Also still have yet to finish 12, im on the rhittorachs or whatever, and i have no motivation to finish it, story was so bland dont really care what happens to who, that and im sick of running up and watching my guys do the same things over and over....

All that confirmed for me is that Square needs to stop re-using old properties and start making good games again (except for stuff that Mr. Tactics/Vagrant Story/XII does). Jesus did they rape those character designs. Fugly CG, that only stirred anything by replicating a lower-tech CG with better art design.

Anyways, at least Enix is still making good games.

Square has been dangling this prospect over the heads of fans for almost a decade now. It's naive to think they'd so readily rush into a game that they themselves say would take at least 5 years of development to produce.

Most FF7 fans have lost faith in the prospect of a remake as well, looking at how Square has handled characters and the world of FF7 in Advent Children and Dirge, its hard to image a remake of FF7 itself would yield anything more than more dissapointment and loss of nostalgia.
