How can you say that? It sold 350k in japan alone in the first day. You have to be blind to expect only 2.5million sales WW for CC:FF VII.

Because 350K first day in Japan isn't all that good. That leads to a 450K to 500K first week. Which leads to about 1 million lifetime Japan at best. MHF2 sold more than 700K first week and isn't even going to hit 2 million worldwide. I'm actually being generous here. Sadly, PSP games sell like shit, especially outside of Japan. I don't think they would really use CC:FFVII to judge the worldwide popularity of the game though, so don't worry.

Monster hunter only sells well in japan (like dragon quest) but final fantasy (especially 7) sells well overseas.

Yep.  I know.  That's why I gave it 2.5 million lifetime tops.  I figure it will be somewhere between 2 million and 2.5 million.  You have to remember that all PSP games sell bad outside of Japan, excluding GTA:LCS.  RPGs do especially bad on the PSP in America and Europe.  Not a single one has broken .5 million.  Of course, this is Final Fantasy VII, so I'm assuming it has the ability to push around 750K-1 million in America and 500K in Europe.

If they do remake it, it'll probably be the first JRPG I ever buy. I was always turned off by JRPGs because of the turn-based gameplay, but then, I've never really played through one so I can't be sure that I wouldn't like it. :P

Well, I played LotR: The Third Age and thought it was garbage. That's somewhat like a JRPG, right?

Actually, I own Dark Cloud. I enjoyed it for the most part, though I found it very repetitive and never finished it. Was that a good JRPG?

FFVII was turn based (basically), so if you can't stand turn based you probably won't like it either. I like turn based personally. FFVII had it's problems but the combat system wasn't one of them. If you want a non turn based JRPG grab Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. You could also try the steaming pile of poo that is FFXII.

Oh and Dark Cloud is decent.  Dark Cloud 2 is a lot better though IMO.

Yea 12 is a pile of poo, where the #$#$ was the story, and without a story, was not going to be considered a great game, but to add onto it, the gameplay got so danm boring! At first it was fun and all, something new, then it just got so boring, you pretty much could set it up so all you did was move, and your guy would automatic attack for you /sigh, then espers sucked monkey balls at the end of the game, actually, only the beg of the game were they good, later all they are good for were their ults (ff 10 anyone?)

just had no story, characters were retarded (vann..... penelo....)

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

LOTR third age=shit

No story, decent gameplay (found it repitive besides the multi hit moves), just no story. A huge and major key aspect of JRPGS is story, it really is, there are quite a few JRPGS i would not have finished if it wasnt for the story. And the great ones combine gameplay with story (ff 7). Story adds to how you want to push to find out more, or like in FF 7 when Aeris dies, and you have to face the thing that killed her, you just feel emotion, and when you perform special moves you just feel how you want to beat the shit out of the thing O.O. Also many JRPGS are steping away from the turn based, which is great, but i also like having a few remain traditional.

But the new ones such as White Knight Story use active gameplay, but also has JRPG elements.

Dark cloud i dont know anything about that one

So Aeris dies. Thanks. *rollseyes*

Nah, I'm just joking. :P Story is also very important to me. That's why I love MGS so much. The gameplay isn't all that, tbh.  I mean, yeah it's fun, but the story is what really keeps me going.

Having anygood JRPGs you'd recommend? Should I just wait for WKS or something? WKS looks awesome, visually and story-wise. The gameplay look spretty fun as well.

And I think the only reasons I don't like turn-based gameplay is because of the few experiences I've had with it (LotR:TA, for example). I actually enjoyed what little of the LEgend of Dragoon I played.

rofl, i think everyone has heard aeris dies...... O.o

If you have a ps3 and you like jrpgs, WKS is a must have from the looks of it, im considering purchasing my ps3 early so i can play this single game (with Resistance, and Warhawk or something also mind you)

Legend of dragoon is a classic, didnt have much depth magic wise, but it was a good game, pretty good story line.

Ones i would recommend would be what nazna has listed already, you could also try ff 8 or 9 ff 8 if you like, though both are big steps in different directions from 7 and each other. 10 i would recommend story wise, but gameplay was rather stale. You touch ff x-2 and you will slit your wrist, i hate SE partially for actually releasing that game.

Congratulations. Your justification for another OMFG FNAL FANTXYY SEVEN REEEEMAKE thread is a blatant and obvious reference at the end of Crisis Core that it's a prequel to a 10 year old game where its story is "continued."

First off go away

Thank you and good bye

Uhh huh. No chance they were just referring to the story being continued in FF7?

Though I think there was a small change from the ps3 video.

Side note: Please god, let the Crisis Core story make some damn sense. Or if they actually are remaking it, fix the amazingly large and enormously stupid cloud/sephiroth/jenova hole. Please? k thx bai!

If it was referring to the version of FFVII that is already out, it would've just said "Continued in FFVII."

However, the caption explicitly says "To be continued in FFVII" implying that it will continue sometime in the future, and is not continued now.

Of course, it could be SE just messing with us, but considering the FFVII tech demo for the ps3 back at e3, the survey of fans asking which FF they'd prefer to be remade conducted by SE themselves (which FFVII won by a landslide), the mountains of cash they'd make from a remake, and now this, I'd say a remake is definately being planned, if not already in the works.

Ehh dude i wouldn't too much into the grammer of a translated sentence. "To be continued in FF7" could just mean that it's being continued in the future of the game.  As in this story will be continued in a few months or however long the ending of the game is before the beggining of FF7.

Still if it's not advertising a sequel i don't see why they wouldn't remake 7 anyway.  They're having a fun time doing it for the rest of the Final Fantasy games on the DS for money... why turn down free money?

I still say rereleases are better then remakes.  Release it's game in it's orignal form so it can be appreciated for what it is, not what it might of been.

To sell 2 Million by the end of the year. If it sold 600,000 this week it would need... 87,500 a week? Or 82,356 a week?

Seems like a pretty impetuous claim at 2 million on that, since it likely won't get released in the US till after this year and Final Fantasy games are pretty frontloaded in Japan.

Considering FF7 sold a little under 4 million lifetime in Japan.

TBh, I had no clue Aeris dies. :P

I'll probably get WKS when it comes out, though I'm not sure what to pick up for now.  I'll probably grab DC2 and possibly DQVIII like Naznatips recommended and then grab the inevitable FFVII remake in a few years.  Possibly FFXIII as well, if it turns out well.  After XII, who knows, but I heard they got the old team that worked on 10 back together or something.

Thanks for all the info, guys. :)

o well then... aeris doesnt die stop putting words in my mouth =P, but seriously you didnt know, thats like.... impossible.... Yea, i hope they dont screw it up though, and they have most of the team, except they are missing two of the biggest guys. Sakaguchi and Uematsu (man uematsu is a must in terms of music!) But so far we know that Shiva is a bike......enough said... No prob by the way

Uematsu's gone for good?  I thought he was just helping out Sakaguchi or something.  That really sucks.  I've heard some of his work, and it's amazing.

Oh, and "Shiva is a bike"?  Wtf?
