Because 350K first day in Japan isn't all that good. That leads to a 450K to 500K first week. Which leads to about 1 million lifetime Japan at best. MHF2 sold more than 700K first week and isn't even going to hit 2 million worldwide. I'm actually being generous here. Sadly, PSP games sell like shit, especially outside of Japan. I don't think they would really use CC:FFVII to judge the worldwide popularity of the game though, so don't worry.

 Monster hunter only sells well in japan (like dragon quest) but final fantasy (especially 7) sells well overseas.
