I'm not fond of the censorship of board posts and threads. That said I'm glad they are keeping that aspect out of the game. MMOs are already gay enough seeing as MOST of the female characters you see are dudes playing them and then other dudes hitting on them. If you want to be gay in the old republic then you could still PM it up with your same sexed lover. I'm just glad I won't have to watch two half naked Jedi dudes making out when I go to the auction.

That's really the diff with MMOs and other games. You can be gay in the Sims and Mass Effect, no problem, because you choose to be gay and then watch the results. In an MMO if you choose to be gay you could potentially subject every other player to your choice, even if they are offended by it.

Really, I have no problem with gay people enjoying their chosen lifestyle but I just have a problem with this thought that gayness must be injected into every single aspect of media until it is saturated everywhere. Remember a majority of people in this world are not gay so why shove it down their throats?

You know, were I more freudian I'd smirk at your insecurity about having stuff "shoved down your throat" and "gayness injections" in this context :)

But seriously: gay people are just asking for fair treatment. Groping and making out in a bus can be considered inappropriate behaviour, but that should not depend on the gender of the groper and gropee.

On the other hand, by being visible to you in a behaviour that is considered perfectly normal for eterosexual couples, they are not subjecting you to anything. Actually if you or I find that view upsetting that should be considered our problem, and we should work on ourselves to get over it.

Living their life in public and being subject to the same rules as everybody else is hardly a prevarication on the majority.

It seams to me that there is no differentiation of that kind in the Star Wars universe, though there is no explicit example of that, cause we don't want to intrude on the private lives of others. Plus, out primitive one species minds and culture would be offended.
But think about it, there are a myriad of species, one stranger that the other in the SW universe, there must be interspecies relationships. What's a bit of homosexuality compared to that?

I have to admit i'm finding it hard to follow what you're saying, which isn't neccesarily your fault.

There is at least one specific example in Star Wars and thats in the Expanded Universe books, as i said in the OP, Boba Fetts best mate is gay and has a "husband" and adopted children - Aliit ori'shya tal'din.

So if its good enough for Boba, it's good enough for me! Oya!

Interesting. Do they use words like gay and homosexual in those books?

Nope, it's just taken for granted as part of who they are, which is why in the OP i said maybe they meant "There are no words to specify sexuality in Star Wars"

It's mentioned under "Personality and Traits"

Why do people feel the need to show whole world their sexuality in a game about men with long coasts and flashlights in a hand is beyond my understanding.

To be fair, he was a robot. Saying a robot is gay is just anthropomorphising their traits.

Vader is a big sex toy confirmed!!!!!

They have gay relationships their other games, they're probably shutting down these threads to prevent vocal opposition to similar inclusions in the new KotOR. Well, not really KotOR, but you know.

Am I the only person that thinks Star Wars movies are a bit crap.....

You hate everything though. :-p

OT: This is stupid. I'm not sure I'm convinced that it was Bioware that wanted the restriction. Who else is involved with this game? Is it a Microsoft exclusive or is LucasArts behind it? I'm was thinking it was Microsoft but didn't they just recently meet with GLAAD to solve their issues that gay people were having with MS? I don't know, it's kind of a strange move if Bioware went from being open about that kind of thing to being against it...

I know blaming Microsoft is pretty much the go-to for anything and everything, but they've got nothing to do with this game.

Actually, I have a problem with anybody making out in public regardless of their preference. But I see your points.

Many universities and workplaces actually prohibit PDAs (Public Displays of Affection) for this reason.
