Forums - Nintendo - Why Nintendo hasn't mandated that online games use WiiSpeak

^Yea, if that happens in real life I tend to just ignore everyone to make it easier.

Friend codes are one of the best ideas in online gaming, they were just implemented badly.

There should be a single code for your Wii, not individual codes for different games
Then it is up to the devs to have 'with anyone' and 'with friends' modes, and allow you to turn off things like chat for 'with anyone'

Then there is no inconvenience, and you don't have to put up with listening to idiots whilst playing online

How would you manage two different users of the same Wii? What happens if your Wii dies and you have to replace it?

Tying an online id - numerical or human-readable is beyond the point - to the console or to the single copy of the game instead of the user is simply a bad idea.

Have multiple profiles for different users on the Wii which you can select through the options menu. You can have the account or profile for each users linked to their own individual Club Nintendo account which the account stores your friends system code.

^Indeed, that's similar to PSN ID or Gamertag. A central repository of IDs linked to abstract users.
I was talking about scottie's "a single code for your Wii"
