Forums - Sales - "Trade in a PS2, get $100 off a PS3"

I love my PS3, but I wouldn't reccomend doing this.

The PS2 is just too awesome.

look you can buy a ps2 off someone for like 30-50 dollars with games. This is basically 50-100$ free for anyone buying a ps3.

this is a great deal since my ps2 is my only console i dont play anymore (still play my genesis, n64, xbox every once in a while) too bad i already have a ps3 with b/c (why my ps2 is packed up). but for those who dont, GREAT DEAL

Had this deal in NZ most of last year, but it was only for slimline PS2 and the PS2 here STILL retails new for >$100, so not nearly as good a deal as what you have now in the US.

Edit: I think it included surrendering 6 PS2 games, but no minimum trade-in value, and 1xworking DS2 controller.

I haven't touched my PS2 for years, this will probably be the deal that I've been looking for to get my PS3. I've got the cables, I just can't for the life of me find my Dualshock. If my scholarship comes through for the summer semester I'm pretty much guaranteed to march over there and grab a PS3.

Why don't they do it with the Wii or Xbox 360.

$200/250 - $100 = $100/150 makes a whole lot more sense in terms of driving sales.

They are bussiness not charity.

When they take your PS2 and sell you PS3 for 300$ they still want to make money.

Also there might be some agreement with Sony under the table.

probably underhand deal, which is why I wonder why M$$$$$ doesn't do so also?

Well, I would imagine that they get a cut of the total revenue, so it would have to be relative to the price.

It would be 50/62 dollars off, rather than 100 then.

M$$$$$$ doesn't 'want any of their old consoles :p they know they'd be getting a console that's bound to fail on them.
