Forums - Nintendo - Will "Wii 2" be treated the same way as the Wii now?

I was just wondering if anybody else thinks there will be some "core exodus" or something of that nature, where "Wii 2" development is not a first priority if it is to be a market leader as well.

We may get excuses like the ones now, where teams not used to Gamecube development find it harder than others to use the Wii, or Nintendo is to kiddy. Irregardless, I know even with a successor released, the Wii will get support in the same extended vein as the PS2. However, if the Wii is rendered obsolete like the GC is now, that may not turn out to be true.......

I garentee that if Sony and MS offer a new powerful console at a competitive price, and the Wii is how its presented today(even if its HD) developers will definitely support Sony and MS more still

I don't think so.  The major sale point of the wii is motion control, which enticed the casual person to play games again.  The next generation will not even be close, because graphics do not matter to the casual Wii owner.  I would prefer a new system with better graphics, but what sold so many wii's is motion controls.  Wii Motion Plus is actually something they probably should of used in "Wii 2".  Unless they do something even more innovative on the Next Generation sale will definitely decline.  Better Graphics = no win.

Well I don't know what the 3rd parties will do. If N6 is on the technical capabilities as Xbox 3 and Playstation 4 then I would see why they wouldn't put the games on there even if it wasn't in first. But if not on the same technical levels that brings in a whole new monetary issue that must arise before deciding platforms.

As for public opinions of the console if N6 is winning then fanboys will say it is an awful casual system. If it isn't winning then they will love it til the end. Shows you just how much I think of these so call public opinions eh.

This isn't something that can be answered. If they release the Wii 2 r the next-gen Nintendo console with something innovative, then you can expect sales to be just as great. If they release it with HD support, then we can easily assume 3rd party hardcore support will be there. Even more so if the sales of said console come anywherenear what the Wii is managing atm.

Just my point of view.
