Forums - Sony - Will The PS3 Rule Each Genre?

Yes one console lol I would love if we had could buy one system and play all console games on it. Save me lots of money :D

Which reminds me that I speant over 1000 bucks this gen on three consoles!  Does seem a little extreme don't you think?

Add on a PSP

And on all the extra controllers, games and other goodies...  42"plasma,  HD projector

Maybe the hardcore single console fanboys have the right Idea after all.

But gaming > money IMHO

IMO:
Shooter = 360
RPG = DS or 360/Wii
Action Adventure = PS3/Wii
Racer = Wii/360 (Arcadey racers own)
Platformers = Wii
Fighter = Wii.

My last post.
The "article/feature" is pure bias from a bias site. I wouldnt pay too much attention.

This thread will reach at least 3 pages.

How exactly? Brawl is good and all, but you seriously think it's better than UNS, Street Fighter 4, Soul Caliber 4, etc?

Very much so. I've played quite a bit of SC4, and I loved SF2 back in the day. (What's UNS btw?) but they are nothing on Brawl.

UNS is Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm. I figured he'd like because he loves anime and it's the best anime fighter in the past few years.

@ twesterm

I know you hated it. You even made a thread about it.

And I really loved Soul Caliber 4.

Soul Calibur IV owns... can't wait for BlazBlue.

I like how he arranges things so that Gears of War goes up against God of War instead of Killzone.

*rolls eyes*

Well, at least MGS4 is a comparable title. Kinda.

Shooter - 360
RPG - 360
Action Adventure - WII/360
JRPG - DS/WII
Racer - WII/360
Platformers - WII
Fighter - WII
Puzzle - WII
RTS - 360
how the hell ps3 can own platformers genre with one average platformer? no, ratchet is not a platformer.

There would also be less fanboy wars. Maybe not since it would become Console Fanboyz VS PC Fanboyz instead of        360 VS Wii VS PS3

 How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

A problem with fanboyism is that it causes you to develop a bad case of spot vision. You develop blind spots all over. Like in this article here, no mention is made of Left 4 Dead OR Gears of War under the FPS area. Of course, you your shooter clustering so that it doesn't include Left 4 Dead OR Gears in a category that would appeal to FPS fans.

If anyone want to know why I defy fanboys? It is because of articles like this. And note that this is, yes, coming from someone who is on the anti-Sony side, but likes LBP a lot (Give SMG the platformer title this generation), Uncharted a LOT, and have respect for KZ2 for its bots and technical prowess.

Since everyone's making lists, I'll make my own lol.

Action/Adventure - Easily the Wii!  Between Twilight Princess and Okami (okay, they're not exactly exclusive, but they're close enough) and other titles, the Wii comes out on top.  Trico will be the only decent competition from the other camps for these titles, but Nintendo always has another Zelda up their sleeve, so I can't see them losing the crown.

Hack n' Slash
(because I don't think games like God of War fit in with games like Zelda) - The ps3 wins here, with Heavenly Sword and Ninja Gaiden Sigma, plus God of War III (the mother of them all, imo) and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on the way.

Platformer - My vote goes to the ps3, because LittleBigPlanet is an absolute blast, and is probably my favorite game this gen.  And it has 750k levels and counting (of which at least ~100 or so are pretty good, from my own personal experience).  Plus, the ps3 has the pseudo-platforming series Ratchet & Clank.  The Wii comes very, very close, though, with Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario.

Racing
- I'm not really into sim racers (well, most racers, really), and racing series I really play is Mario Kart, so the Wii gets my vote here.  Plus playing with the wheel is just awesome.  I'd say the ps3 would take second place, though, because of Gran Turismo, MotorStorm, and Wipeout. 360 is a close third with Forza and PGR.

Shooter (no, I'm not limiting this genre to just FPS) - I'd say it's almost a tie between the ps3 and 360, with the nod going to the 360.  In my opinion, Killzone 2 > Gears of War 1/2 >>> Halo 3 >>> Resistance 1/2.  But I'm a bit biased against Halo and Resistance, since I like my shooters a bit slower and more tactical.  There's also the issue of what genre MGS4 resides in.  This could tip the scale back in favor of the ps3.  The only description that fits for the game, imo, is Tactical Espionage Action.  :P

RPG -  At this point, I'd say it easily goes to 360.  It has Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and a few others to call its own.  Of course, if games keep going multiplat (Star Ocean?), that could change.  I would say the ps3 comes in second, but sadly its best RPG (Demon's Souls) has only been released in Japan and Asia, so that doesn't really count.  The Wii is  certainly picking up steam too, with titles like Arc Rise Fantasia soon to be released, and Tales of Graces and Monster Hunter 3 in the future.

Fighter (I like how he just ignored this one lol) - Easily Wii!  SSBB > all other fighters this gen.  Everything else of note is multiplat ps3/360, so they tie for second.

And yes, I ignored the handhelds.

SSB games all have been lame IMO. I know many like them I just can't get into them I will play a match against people sometimes but I never will buy one again. Its a party fighter nothing more its fun for when 4 friends want to play a match but still its not even close to beign the best fighter that shows how poor fighting genre is if thats the case. SSBB don't hold a candle to games like Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, King of Fighters, Guilty Gear and yes even Killer Instinct. It should just be called Mario Party w/ Friends Fighter or something. Its fun only at parties nothing more. Single player is boring as hell in the gamecube one and wii one and the fighting is wayyy to basic to even equal to those other fighter series I mentioned. Same goes with Mario Kart its a decent arcade racer but not even in top 10 racing games I can think of a ton that are better the best Mario Kart was MK: Double Dash but thats not even good enough for top 10 even though I loved it. You got to think reasonable on this How in god's name is Mario Kart better than Forza, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Midnight Club, Test Drive etc. It just isn't now is Mario Kart  fun and has there been some good ones yes that I will admit but it will never be top racer. It would take a lot to do such a thing and I don't see ti ever happening. Mario Kart Wii is weak they dumbed the series down. They didn't innovate with it at all it was like playing Mario Kart 64 all over again but with better graphics.

@MM476, you can't use Zelda because you are a sinner who hasn't finished all the games in the series in spite of professing great love for them!

Tease.

I quite honestly have not seen a more pitiful attempt to attack specific franchises. You quite obviously have not even given the SSB games a fair chance, you know nothing of the smash scene. Saying its fun only at parties and nothing more? Lol. You then go on to attack Mario Kart, saying the best iteration was DD!!, complaining that MKWii did not innovate and then going on to say how can it compete with Need for Speed and the like? You are telling people they have to think reasonably? Give me a break.

How technical is your game?
