Forums - Gaming - How much does Gamestop give for a used Wii and a used Xbox 360?

I'm not an accountant, but I'm pretty sure that if you give them to charity, you should be able to deduct the value that GameStop *sells* the used consoles for. You would save 25-28% (depending on your tax bracket) of that value on your taxes.

Of course, going that route you won't actually see the money until you get your rebate next spring, but this way you get to help someone other than GameStop.

Aaaaaaaaand friended

Just to make things clear-- I go to Gamestop because I consider their cheaper prices to include a convenience fee.

I don't want to ship anything, I don't want to worry about people paying up, I don't want to hear people bitching about whatever they could possibly bitch about, and I don't want to wait.

I realize I could get more at Amazon Marketplace, eBay, and Craig's List and I don't care.

I wholeheartedly feel the same. I always prefer to sell my used stuff to stores instead of private people for these reasons.

He is selling his older 360 to get a new 360 with an HDMI port, not getting rid of it completely.

If you are going to respond please do so regarding the OP and help him out , rather than fanboy responses like "You are selling all your non PS3 consoles LOL" and "I agree you should only have a PS3"..........come on guys, did you even read what he was asking.

On topic: Used 360 with 20g HD, and (1) wireless controller is $98 store credit or - 20% for cash (from store credit amount). Used Wii with (1) controller is $130 store credit or - 20% for cash. The new arcades all have hdmi ports and (1) wireless controller.

cmon, my joke couldn't have been that subtle. I think I even pissed off twestern, because I said he would waste his time at gamestop. He still hasn't responded XD.

And thanks for the advice yall, I'll end up calling them, I was just mainly worried about the HDMI thing.

surely if you trade in your old x360 and a wii that should cover it for a new x360 with a hdmi + some games. If not your better of doing your trade ins somewhere else. The new x360 are much more quiter so its a must.

You could call your local gamestop up and get a more valid answer than anyone else on here. If they refuse to give prices over the phone then pack your systems up and storm in there with hulk rage.

I looked up a few things and I've got to add one big caveat. To do this, you have to itemize your deductions instead of using the standard deduction, so you wouldn't have any tax savings unless you have enough itemized deductions to exceed your standard deduction.

So really, if this will help you or not depends on your tax situation, but still I think it's worth thinking about.

$80 for the 360, and you have to trade it in with a controller (and the cables, obviously). You'd get more with a HDD, but I assume you're keeping that.

I can't remember what you get for a Wii offhand, but something tells me it's 120-ish. Don't trust me on that.

You know I know you asked us not to to ask you about this but seriously why not sell it on amazon.com or ebay. Why would you rather not you'll make almost twice the money? Are you not familiar with selling stuff online or is it you need some quick cash?

It's called being lazy.
