Mario is timeless because his games are timeless. 100 years from now your great grandkids will be able to pop a copy of Mario 3 into an NES (And yes it will still work) and they won't think about the 100 year old graphics, they'll be too busy trying to go through the awesome levels with flawless control. In mere minutes they will become lifetime Mario fans.
