The gameplay is button-mashy.
The beginning is horrible.
Some levels suck.
The story isn't as good.
It is too easy.

It's lucky not to get below a 7.6.

I dont get it, you guys like the other FF more than FF VII simply because they are in 2d. Well history says you guys are nintendo supporters.

Fact is FF VII is the best FF.

Fact is FF VII will always stay on a sony system.

Fact is that you guys prefer SNES versions of FF games.

Eh, The only bad part about FF 7 being in 3D was that the graphics looked like crap.  I have more issue with the fact that unlike 1-6 and presumibly 9.  7 had nothing to do with Final Fantasy other then the name and the fact that some of the items were named the same.  Final Fantasy 1-6 had a lot of themes that connected them together despite their different settings.  Final Fantasy 7 is basically just a new RPG franchise that they gave the name of Final Fantasy rather then let the franchise die off and be forced to build up a new brand.  You can claim it's a better game if you like, but if you've actually played 1-7 i don't see how you could claim it's the best final fantasy.  It would be like calling Killzone 2 the best Halo game.

If FF7 is released on the PS3 the ugly graphics will be changed but that's about it.  I'd likely get it and try it for a third time and this time try and pretend they arn't calling it Final Fantasy.

Besides my girlfriend liked it.

Also as far as nostalgia goes my first RPGS were Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy 1, Ultima Exodus, some other Ultima game and Destiney of an Emepeor in that order.

The gameplay was better easily, the camera angles were insanely better.

What levels sucked?

The story was 100times better than the first. What you only like disney characters?

He hates it because it's on the PS2 and not a Nintendo console.

Agree with dtwei. The story wasn't even that good imo... I can't comment about "it is too easy" though since I've only played in standard mode...

Have you not played IX?  If you haven't, and you like FFI-VI, you need to.  Buy a cheap PSone or PS2 if you don't have one already and the get IX of Half.com.  They have great prices. It looks like they have IX for 8 bucks plus a few in shipping:

Although you phrased it a little bit too harshly, I agree that it really isn't the same style of game that the other FF games are.  It's not a bad game, just not like the FF games.

Those were IGN's complaints, not mine. But it is easy, the only time I ever felt challenged somewhat as Xigbar on proud mode low-level.

Now I'm being accused of a fanboy because those were IGN's complaints.

Meh, KH2 was good despite it's problems.  I didn't like the story as well, but in general I enjoyed it a lot.  However, I don't really care if IGN agrees with my opinion on the game or not. Heh.
