Forums - Nintendo - Was it better for Nintendo to be on top this generation?

When you see how they're treated as market leader, imagine what would be the critics and the reactions if they were dead last...

When this happens to PS3, it's not considered as a problem, and most devs keep on with their support, tied to huge past investments. BUT, if it happens to a Nintendo console, the support that wasn't even there at first would then be totally out of question in the next minute...

Wii's only fault: beat the PS2 with a 6 years delay...

It's always funny to see such an "outdated" console make such an impact... but if that impact had happened in the previous gen, in "real time", PS2 would never have been so successful and dominant, Nintendo would have had the budget for their own vision of an "uber-console", plus a kind of guarantee of success... and by now, we would already have the so-called "Wii HD" kickin' other consoles asses...

Around the Network

I think it's good that Nintendo's doing well. If they'd continued to go downhill from the GameCube, who knows what'd happen next generation.

Can you imagine the third party support if it was dead last?

Wii is furthering gaming more than the other two consoles and is ultimately great for the industry as a whole that it's selling as well as it is..
