Forums - Nintendo - Need for Speed: Nitro, Codemasters refining the handling of cars, plus more

  • aggressive art style
  • exaggerated vehicle sizes
  • Graffiti: spray-paint the city if you’re ahead in the race
  • various control methods, including a one-handed mode
  • 60 FPS
  • Made by EA Montreal, referred internally as the Nintendo Group. (They made Skate, Boogie and Blur)
  • People from Codemasters are refining the cars's handling.
  • Car deformation limited to scratches and dents
So will NFS: Nitro take the series back to it's arcade roots? Or will NFS: Shift out-shift it?

Nice to get a bit of info on this. Need for Speeds on Wii have been pretty poop lately. The idea that EA is developing a game specifically for the system instead of just giving it a downgraded port is a great idea for the series and gamers. Now if they can just solve that one persistent flaw with recent Need for Speeds in the area of the games being awful, they might just get my money.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Being more a fan of sims than arcade racers, I'm probably going to pass, but I definitely think this is the right direction for NFS (not just on the Wii).

I want to see a video of this, at least some screens. Could be good, but until we see some media, I'll remain terribly skeptical.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

i hope for somethin similar to need for speed 3. good thing that codemasters is also working on the game - looks like EA is really working on wii/ds games this time since almost every new wii game announced by EA is shaping as a quality title(even mysims games after Party which was shovelware).

Saw some shots (scans). So far, not impressed. Let's see what more features they'll have and if the handling is good.

Doesn't sound too impressive so far. But I'm more of a fan of arcade than sim racers so I'll be following this. However I'd much rather have Burnout.
